The Happy Adventure Inn hosts the acclaimed Chucky’s Seafood & Wild Game Restaurant, featuring locally sourced products and traditional Newfoundland dishes. Overlooking the Happy Adventure harbour, Chucky’s offers guests the opportunity to taste some of the Atlantic ocean’s finest offerings while observing the very harbour from which their seafood was brought to shore. Chucky’s Seafood & Wild Game Restaurant was rooted from its predecessor, Chucky’s Fish and Ships, formally located in downtown St. John’s, and it still serves the same fish and chip recipe that Chucky made famous. While the specials menu changes frequently, Chucky’s regularly offers Newfoundland Snow Crab, Moose burgers and steaks, and of course fresh cod!

Great food and beer selection on draft. The views are amazing from every table. I got the full lobster with half of a snow crab which was delicious. My wife got the black bean burger and fries. The burger was frozen store bought (Morningstar prob), but she was happy since most restaurants in the area don’t have any vegetarian options. I do wish that they wouldn’t have sat the large family of screaming children at the table next to us since we were the only ones at the restaurant. That being said, I will definitely go back for the best food and views in the area.

Great view & delicious food. Can’t beat the Fish & Chips or the Striploin steak anywhere. Pea soup was also delicious….a hidden gem. Not far from the Trans Canada Hwy. Good selection of wine by the bottle.

What an amazing hidden gem!! The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere with a beautiful view of the harbour. Our waitress was amazing!! We are traveling with two kids with nuts allergies and she was well informed about the kitchen’s allergy policy and made everyone feel at ease about eating the there. The food was great. Everyone at our table enjoyed their dinner from flipper pie to ribs, everything was good.

Ate here with my family while on vacation recently. As a ex-pat Newfoundlander living in Toronto, I was hankering for a good plate of Fish and Chips. Fish and Chips is far from the fanciest meal on offer at Chucky’s Seafood- but let me say in no uncertain terms that I was blown away by the quality. Fresh, delicious fish in good batter and fantastic fries! And I found the prices completely reasonable for the level of quality.
If I was reaching for something to critique, I might say the fries might have been a touch dark or overdone for some people. But that’s purely a matter of taste- I like ’em that way. We also had a mix up with our reservation time, but the staff accommodated us just fine. It’s genuinely hard to find anything to complain about!
That is to say, my experience with this place was fantastic. The rest of my dinner party also very much enjoyed their food- my mother thought the crab was fantastic and my father said the same about his chowder and scallops. We left satisfied and willing to come back for more.
All in all, if you are looking for great seafood in central, you can’t go wrong with this place!

This was an amazing find thanks to a worker at Terra Nova park. The food was incredible and service was awesome. Including having our picture taken by a friendly young man who works there. They also have boat tours, and accommodation but we had to leave the next day. Next time.

After a bit of a mix-up with our reservation we were seated and enjoyed prompt and courteous service. Started with calamari, best ones we have had, ever, the coating was light and the calamari extremely tender. We opted for sharing the seafood platter (62$) and ordered an extra side. Best seafood ever, the fish was fantastic, flaky and cooked to perfection, same goes for the muscles, shrimp and scallops. The crab was incredibly flavourful and tasty. Absolutely worth every penny. Truly a hidden gem in the town of Hidden Adventure. Strongly recommend making reservations. Great place worth coming back to.

Fabulous menu, fresh seafood, great flavors. Service was excellent. A beautiful room and a great view. The seafood platter was plentiful. The wine selection is well paired to the dishes. Creme bruler was top notch.
