The restaurant is open air but nicely covered with fans to keep cool.
We shared a full buttered chicken which was amazing! It’s the first time we had it and couldn’t believe how buttery each piece tasted. We also had the garlic rice which had tons of garlic, just the way we would want it. We also had a chop suey which was flavourful and came with a good variety of veggies.
Service was good and brought us water refills as needed.

We came here starved and left satisfied. The place is tucked away a little. We ordered pancit, sisig, sinuglaw and scallops. The sisig was perfectly balanced. The pancit guisado was flavourful and a big portion. The sinuglaw was our least favourite as it was overly acidic and watery. The scallops were spiced perfectly and not overcooked. They also do have local beers which is great. Staff are very friendly. Outdoor dining so it will be hot. Would love to try more things on the menu.

This restaurant is just 5 minutes walk from our hotel. Friendly and welcoming staffs. The food tastes great. The seafood is fresh. We ordered shrimp, fish and some other dishes. Price affordable. It gets busier as the night approaches. We went around 6+ pm and not much people. Overall I’m satisfied.

I am checking out kinilaw at the restaurants in town that offer it. Jose was my third restaurant. By far the best kinilaw. Perfect mix of spices, fresh veggies and very fresh tuna. I had garlic rice with mine. So excited I dug in before taking a picture. I’ll remedy that in a future visit, because I’m coming back!

Great food. Great service. Highly recommend for super tasty local cuisine. Singers come inside too and provide live music occasionally. Staff are super friendly and its a place where you can relax and enjoy the food on your own or in a big group.
Highly recommend.

José Panglao – 2/5
We came as four people, hungry and expecting a good meal. We ordered Beef Kari Kari, Lechon, Morning Glory, and garlic rice.
Beef Kari Kari: Oily sauce with strong, unpleasant shrimp paste. Most pieces were fat, not meat. You can see from the plate it was messy, with sauce left over and barely touched beef.
Lechon: Served as dry pork with a few slices of onion and cabbage. No vegetables or noodles, only pork on the plate.
Morning Glory: The greens looked oily and wilted. The taste was like motor oil. We had trouble eating it.
Garlic rice: Rice with scattered bits of processed fried garlic. The garlic looked and tasted stale. It was not fresh or flavorful, only mixed into the rice.
We were hungry, so we forced ourselves to eat. Tables were too high and chairs too low. Beer was served warm.
Staff was friendly. Music and ambiance were good.
If you care about food quality, avoid this place.

The food is okay. Staff is very proactive and eager to serve you. But this is just about the same as the many Filipino grill and seafood restaurants in the country, not just in Bohol. Looking forward to that day when places like this have something really new and exciting to offer. The dining area could get easily crowded though. Parking area is also tight.

A great place to enjoy delicious food in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, all freshly prepared and full of flavor. The food was well presented and satisfying, making the dining experience truly enjoyable.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to assist, creating a warm and pleasant vibe throughout the visit. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and a nice spot to unwind, whether you’re dining with friends, family, or as a couple.

Best Filipino restaurant in Alona, hands down! First of all, the location has a great, relaxed and cozy atmosphere, it is secluded from the main road and the chaos of the town (and also has a parking, which is also a big plus!). But the real reason to come is the amazing food. We had a grilled pompano that we were able to choose ourselves, the flavour was traditional, simple but extremely tasty! The José-style Sizzling Kangkong has a twist that you cannot find anywhere else in the island. Unlike in many other more popular restaurants in Alona, even when it’s packed the service stays professional, efficient and fast. Our waiter was very kind and gave us great suggestions.
If I had to recommend one single place in Alona, I would 100% recommend José for a truly delicious Filipino food experience!

Extremely delicious food! We have ordered Pompano grilled fish and grilled squid, it was very good. Fish and squid were very fresh, and they were stuffed with some herbs and came with vegetables. Very reasonable prices. Staff is also friendly
