Incredibly cute, quaint, and welcoming. This tiny carryout bakery feels like you’re stepping into another world. They stock the shelves with artisan goods for folks with excellent taste. French knives, pour over coffee makers, and more line the shelves. The smell of their baked goods waft out of the entrance, luring you in. With limited hours, be sure to be there as the doors open to ensure you’re able to get the pastries and breads that you want. We sampled a solid lineup of their goods during our recent trip and found ourselves impressed with each.
Freshly brewed NC roasted coffee from counter culture is available. Incredibly fairly priced for the quality.

Simon’s charming patisserie is hands down THE BEST TRADITIONAL French bakery! His croissants, baguettes, kouign amann, breads and more are utterly delicious! You can never just walk by his shop when he has his door open without stopping for something! You will NOT, I repeat will NOT find a better croissant than his in our area! In the summer time, be prepared to wait in line for the goods, if you are wanting a Saturday pastry then make sure you get there 20-30 mins before he opens. There is a limit to the pastries, but understand it is a considerate rule, as he wants everyone to be able to enjoy a goodie! And he always serves the best coffee roasted by my favorite roaster in NC, Counter Culture! Simon is charming, talented and ready to take on the town one croissant at a time! He has now added a lovely Italian Espresso machine and makes a lovely cortado and mocha!
Vive La Croissant!

Be ready to wait in a loooooong line for like an hour and then have them sold out of croissants and pastries by the time it’s your turn. We came 20 minutes ahead of opening and it wasn’t early enough. Seriously, if you want croissants or pasties, you need to be in line super early and be one of the first 5 customers.

I’m giving them the stars because the baguette is phenomenal – and as a french little girl who spent kindergarten in Paris eating baguette every morning, I know. While I’ve never had one of their croissants or pastries because I haven’t been early enough to the line, I bet they’re legit, too. I don’t fault the business for being popular and making an in-demand product – and they can’t help that the inconsiderate Beaufort-ites let their buddies cut in line and/or buy them all up while the rest of us are waiting. Maybe one day I’ll get in line at 7 am or try noonish for their 1:00 pm batch.

Amazing pastries! The anticipation builds from the time you take your place in line. The scent of fresh baked goodness hangs in the air on the street. You get a glimpse of of heaven through the window as you wait. You get antsy when you see the pastries that you want being placed into a bag for another customer ahead of you. You eavesdrop on the conversation from inside and the pleasantries passed cordially between patrons and staff. You step into the doorway when it’s finally your turn and you walk a few steps to the window. You look over the beautifully presented selection of french pastries that line the counter, shelves, and window sill. You ask, “How many can I have?”, and realize you are thinking aloud. You order way too may pastries for two people. You browse for gifts as your pastries are packaged. You pay your bill. You walk briskly across the street to the car and place your purchase inside. You open the bag and pull a pastry from it. As you hold the croissant in your hand and marvel at the flakiness, you observe the laminated caramelization of the layers, so thin you can break the top layer free with a slight brush of your fingers. You devour the top layer and then the whole thing. You are immensely grateful for the investment of the Baker’s time to create such a delicious morsel. You are excited when you realize that was only the first delicacy you pulled from the bag. You will always remember the day you fell in love with Les Ciseaux pastries.❤

Is this place still in business? My husband & I visited a few years ago while in town & still think about it every time we see their sticker! Such a charming little spot, amazing energy, best almond croissants we’ve ever had, definitely worth the line. A real gem! ❤️

So good, I’ve waited in line before they even opened the doors. My son asked me today if we could go get some chocolate croissants. We miss you dearly.

Authentic French bakery, the bread is the best around. We came during Thanksgiving weekend and he gave us a free loaf of bread. The owner is so nice and your tastebuds will thank you! Get here early in the morning before they sell out though. We also purchased a few other items like chocolates and sardines, which were great.

Amazing bread and pastries (on Saturday mornings), just down from the Beaufort farmer’s market. A perfect way to start a weekend at the beach!

A hearty crusty loaf with figs – the last available loaf. I couldn’t be luckier. It was amazing and I may not have tried it if other plain loaves were still available. Makes perfect toast to go with morning eggs, or even just slathered with butter for a snack. Will time my visit to Beaufort, NC better next time to get in line early for a chocolate croissant at this gem of a French Bakery!

Best French baked goods in the area, hands down, and maybe even the best pastries in the country (and we’ve eaten a lot of pastries)!
Everything is phenomenal, we highly recommend every single thing we’ve tried over the several times we’ve visited this precious gem of a bakery.

The croissants are a revelation: layer upon layer of thin and flaky goodness that has the perfect ratio of air-to-pastry. The croissant fillings are very good compliments to the pastry, but even the plain croissants are perfect as they are.

The kouign-amann is basically the perfect pastry! A marriage of flaky and crunch and chew, everyone in our family was fighting over the last bite. Refresh it in the oven for a few minutes and you have heaven on a plate. Even if you don’t think you like caramelly tastes, trust me and try it.

The brioche and breads are simply divine. They’re so good that you can eat them plain, but they also make the best avocado toasts and sandwiches.

There can be a long line during the summers but it is SO worth it!
You may think I’m waxing poetic too much, but I promise this little corner bakery is as good as I and the other reviewers say. 🙂 Do yourself a favor and get some amazing baked goods!
