I got to my hotel room, and that’s when I realized they didn’t give me a spoon for my soup. For most people, that not a big deal, because they can just get a spoon from their kitchen. But for me, I don’t have a kitchen in my hotel room. I knew I had some plasticware in my vehicle. I keep a few of those to-go packs of plasticware in my car for times like that. You know the ones they usually give at restaurants that have a knife, fork, spoon, and maybe a salt/pepper pack and a napkin sealed in a little plastic pouch. But I was sick and my car was far away. So it was really inconvenient for me to have to walk back through the long hotel hallway and through the main hotel hall from the elevator to the parking garage to my car. It’s probably a total of at least 2 city blocks, maybe even 3. And I have to walk there and back. So even though for most people it wouldn’t be a big deal, it turned out to be for me, which is why I removed a star.
The woman who took my order was very nice. The food was delicious. It was just that spoon that created an issue. The fortune cookie was a nice little extra. I am from Colorado, and I have eaten at many places in Louisiana because I have been here for 7 months out of this year. I’ve been staying here to help my son, but I still have my home in Colorado. While here, we’ve been to new Orleans, baton rouge, and also lake Charles area. I don’t usually have a kitchen to cook in while here (I don’t stay with my son). It has been difficult to find food my other son (who is here with me) and I like here in Louisiana. The food standard is just not the same. This is one of a few places I have found with food similar to home and I will definitely be back! If I order soup (probably not, unless I’m sick), I’ll hopefully remember to ask for a spoon next time. The wontons were the best I’ve had here in Louisiana so far, although they are a little more sweet than we are used to. Just a little, most places I’ve found in Louisiana make them very sweet. Too sweet for us to eat. The tea wasn’t that great, even with sweetener, but that’s not a big deal to me. I will definitely order from here again, and maybe dine in next time.
Menu is current for mid November 2025.
I decided to dine-in. First off the hostess lady decided I needed to know it wasn’t a buffet. I looked at her sideways and laughed. I pointed out she didn’t tell the big guy in front of me the same. I still don’t know how I should feel about this.
I ordered the chicken and vegetables from the lunch menu. Everything on the plate taste the same. The waitress filled my tea up with ice to the top before pouring the tea. That turned me off. Large wonton strips are also served. A suggestion. Serve the strips warm. Like tortilla strips at a Mexican restaurant. The small portion size surprised me. The food was edible but a bit salty. I’m probably done with Chinese restaurants while I’m in the Shreveport/ Bossier City.
The food is always great and so is the service.
It’s convenient to the base if you work there. Have lunch with your friends or coworkers !
