The restaurant was a well rounded one. It started off with us being overwhelmed, in a good way, about the choices they had to offer. The cashier service was impeccable as they were friendly and cooperative. The food also did not take long to be served and was piping hot, proving that it was made fresh in the kitchen. The spiciness you can adjust to you liking too. The food was well spiced, fresh, and flavorful, providing us with a long lasting desire for more. The food was all given to us in boxes, which was unique and contrary to the decorated bowls and plates you are usually served in. This is also the go-to restaurant for takeaways as it is suited well as per the packing. One of our most favorite things was the variety of vegetarian options available. Since we are vegetarians, it is hard to find food that does not repeat each time. However, here we have already started to plan what we will eat the next time! We also loved the artwork along the walls which made the place more vibrant. So in conclusion, this was one of the best restaurant we have been to, and if you are looking for a place with a diverse menu, fast serving, open and vibrant ambience, and friendly customer service, then this is definitely the place for you and your family to have a good day or night at! Me and my family definitely plan to come again!

I recently visited Desi Chowrasta, and it was a pleasant experience overall. The place has a modern, clean, and well-organized layout with a nice fusion of contemporary design and desi street-food vibes. As soon as you walk in, the open kitchen and clearly displayed menu boards make ordering easy and transparent.
The ordering process was smooth, and the staff was polite and efficient, even during a busy time. The seating area is spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a good spot to dine in with friends or family. I really liked the ambience—it feels lively without being too noisy, and the lighting gives it a warm, welcoming feel.
Food-wise, Desi Chowrasta offers a wide variety of Indian street-style and comfort dishes, which is great if you enjoy desi flavors. Portions are decent, and the presentation is neat. While some items were more enjoyable than others, the overall experience was satisfying and worth the visit.
This place works well for casual outings, quick meals, or meeting friends who enjoy Indian food in a relaxed setting. With consistent food quality and flavors, Desi Chowrasta has the potential to be a regular go-to spot. I’d definitely consider visiting again to try more items from the menu.

I purchased bread halwa from Desi Chowrastha on Jan 29 around 3:20 PM. The container had an expiry date of Jan 31, so it was well within the stated validity.

However, after opening and inspecting the food, I noticed visible fungal growth / spoilage in the halwa (attached photos). This is concerning, especially for a ready-to-eat item being sold before its expiry date.

I’m sharing this purely as a caution for other customers and hoping the management reviews their storage and food safety practices more carefully. Food quality and hygiene cannot be taken lightly.

Desi Chowrasta, a new restaurant that opened about five months ago, has quickly become a favorite for quick, delicious snacks. If you’re looking for tasty, ready-to-eat Indian snacks for a quick pickup, this is the place to go. They offer a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options that are always available.

It has also become our go-to spot for evening snacks with friends, where you can enjoy pakoras along with some of the best masala chai in Naperville. The owners and staff are incredibly welcoming, making you feel right at home.

One of the biggest advantages is that they stay open until midnight, which is perfect for late-night cravings. We often stop by after watching a movie at Showplace. I highly recommend Desi Chowrasta to everyone looking for authentic snacks and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

We had lunch at this Indian restaurant and, unfortunately, it was not the best experience. At first, we were impressed by the variety on the menu and decided to try the Goat Keema Biriyani, which is usually one of my favorites. However, it turned out quite disappointing. The food was served very quickly, within 5 minutes, which raised concerns about whether it was truly fresh.

We also ordered a non-veg appetizer, Chicken Majestic. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really stand out either. What bothered us more was the overall dining experience. After finishing, we had to clean everything ourselves, which felt inconvenient and unexpected at a sit-down restaurant. On top of that, the water cups provided were extremely small, and we had to fetch water ourselves from a tap around the corner—which didn’t feel good and left the impression of drinking tap water.

Overall, while the restaurant has plenty of options and fast service, the food quality and the way the dining setup is managed need significant improvement. It’s not a place I’d be excited to return to unless these things are addressed.

A Mixed Bag at Desi Chowrastha: Some Hits & A Big Miss!
I recently visited Desi Chowrastha and had a real rollercoaster of an experience! Some dishes were fantastic, while others unfortunately fell flat.

The Good Stuff!

We started with the Pani Puri, which was delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. But the real star of the show was the Mysore Bonda! They were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and tasted absolutely amazing. The peanut and allam (ginger) chutneys served with them were the perfect companions and elevated the dish even more. I would go back just for these!

The Almost-Perfect Frankie ✅

Next, we tried the Egg Frankie. It was pretty good and satisfying overall. It was just a little bit on the salty side for my taste , but eating it with the sauce and the side of chips definitely helped balance it out. A solid choice!

The Big Disappointment

Unfortunately, things went downhill with the main course. We ordered the Egg Noodles, and to put it bluntly, they were a disaster. The dish was completely bland, with no salt, no spices, and just no flavor at all.

We politely let the staff know, and they were kind enough to remake it for us. We were hopeful, but the second batch was exactly the same. It was so disappointing that we told them we couldn’t even take it home with us.

A Note on Service ⭐

Here’s a positive point: as we were leaving, the staff called us back and gave us a refund for the noodles. We really appreciated that gesture! It shows they care about their customers’ experience, even when the food doesn’t hit the mark.

Final Thoughts

Overall, my advice for Desi Chowrastha is to stick to the appetizers and snacks! The Pani Puri and Mysore Bonda are clear winners. ❤️ However, based on my experience, I’d strongly suggest you skip the Egg Noodles. While the staff handled our complaint well, the dish itself was a major letdown.

We’ve been regulars at Chowrastha since it first opened in Naperville, and in the beginning the food was consistently good and flavorful. Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly lately, and the dishes no longer have the taste we used to enjoy. We visited again for dinner today, and everything was disappointing. Even our usual favorite, the custard, was thick like curd and had a tangy, off taste.

If you’re South Indian, you’ll love this place.

the menu is massive and packed with variety. We tried the papri chaat, tikka dosa, and sev puri. The taste was definitely different from what we’re used to on Devon Street in Chicago, which is famous for this type of food, but “different” didn’t mean bad. It felt more authentic South Indian style, and overall pretty good.

We went on a Wednesday night and left around 9:30 PM, and the restaurant was still lively even though they close at 10:30 PM on weeknights.

Location is also a plus – right by the AMC theaters and surrounded by lots of other restaurants. Altogether, a lively and fun spot.
