Highly recommend Mexcla restaurant. The staff is so friendly. The bar area is perfect for meeting up with friends for a drink and chips. The guacamole was some of the best we have ever had. We shared the Hawaiian fajitas and the Molcajete dish (carne asada, chorizo, chicken and shrimp in a red sauce) Both meals were outstanding. My Merry Margarita was perfection. Mexcla has become our new favorite place in Newtown.

AUTHENTIC and Delicious and I am picky! This place is elegant, yet casual. The waitperson I had was very enthusiastic and cheerful, not to mention the food was very tasty. The sauce that I had was a tomatillo for the tacos and the elote (corn with spices), was out of thos world! Definitely will be back and often!

Our first time at Mexcla. The staff was super friendly but did not hover. Our server was a very kind, laid back yet attentive young man. While he facilitated the service quickly, we never felt rushed. Our apps and meals were very tasty. In short, it was great and we will definitely be back. Thanks, Mexcla, for an enjoyable evening.

I read many of the reviews but unfortunately my experience was not the same. The atmosphere is nice, very similar to the last restaurant that was in this space. The salsa and chips were average. The chips were room temp not warmed and the salsa had large chunks of onion in it which overpowered any other flavor. The chile relleno was good. The burrito was a little bland. Overall not bad but nothing memorable.

We had a fantastic birthday dinner tonight at Mexcla. Appetizers, drinks, entrees, and kids meals were amazing. Birthday dessert was so great! Definitely a great place to eat. Looking forward to returning.

Where do I begin – The restaurant itself is stunning and beautiful! The staff was amazing and so friendly. We’ve been looking for an authentic Mexican Restauraunt and this hit the nail! The food was delicious. The drinks were fantastic too. The bartender Alfi was super sweet and attentive. Each drink was crafted to perfection. We will be back!! Check out this spot for a great ambience and amazing authentic food!

Cute Mexican spot in Newtown where guac is made table-side.
We loved the interior decor- it was understated and warm although the entrance sign in the back doesn’t quite do the vibes justice. We weren’t sure what to expect and were pleasantly surprised when we walked in.
Nice restaurant for a family dinner although we were seated in an emptier section due to the size of our party but there was a more lively scene around the corner in the bar area. Our servers were lovely and patient with us and our large family of all ages ranging from 2-85. We all enjoyed our meals and the food arrived fast.
We hear there’s also a private room upstairs which we assume is equally beautiful.
We will definitely be back and will be recommending to other locals!

Mexcla has to compete with a few new Mexican style restaurants in town. Luckily their food is good. Their burritos and wraps are really good. The fresh made guacamole is great as well. Disappointed in the quality of chips. Definitely not homemade but out of a bag. Fajitas were not good. Drinks are solid and so are the desserts. I am giving it a 4 as it has potential to improve.

Mexcla is so good! Great food, service, and atmosphere. We enjoyed the Fajitas Hawaiian, and our kid enjoyed the chicken tenders. The guac was delicious too! Friendly staff, cool interior, and we loved our dish.
