This is my first time here as I was passing through. However, I was recommended this restaurant by a good friend of mine. When I stopped by they were still only serving breakfast. I decided to get the western omelette. It was mediocre nothing special. The egg tasted very dry as if it was the artificial eggs. Though the homemade sausage and gravy was delicious! If you decide to get the country ham make sure you have something to drink (it’s so salty). I wouldn’t mind coming back to try their dinner menu. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but nothing to brag about. It filled me up at the mind.

It was fine. Breakfast was over by 11:30 so I got a turkey sub and my husband got a burger. My sub had 2 slices of turkey on it and the most minuscule amount of mayo. I had to destruct my sandwich and try to scrape it to all corners of the bread. I would have requested some more mayo but the server didn’t come back to check on us for a bit. The bread was good though and everything was clean and fresh.
Husband said his burger was a burger. French fries on the side were a pretty small portion, too, but they were hot and crispy. Like I said, it was all just fine. The locals seemed to like it though, so maybe we didn’t order the good stuff. Still, we’ll probably stop somewhere else the next time we come through.

What a great experience. The liver and onions was the best that I have had in my area! The prices and portions are very good. Most of all Dylan was so kind and helpful. What a great waiter! We will return and highly recommend!

My last review was a bit too much, so I’ve come back to edit. In short, my experience was overall good. The food isn’t particularly my style, but the service and atmosphere are worth it! Small town dining with a small town vibe. Just what a home town needs!

A classic American rural diner. The service was very friendly and quick. I had the bowl of chili with cheese, onions and a little sour cream and it was fantastic. It had the right combination of spicy and tangy and is made onsite daily. I also had the Club Sandwich with fries. It was excellent. The fries were perfect diner style: hot, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The club sandwich was loaded with all the good stuff. All of that (amd iced tea) came to $18 – a good deal for the proce. I’d definitely recommend this place after a day hiking and exploring.

This review has been edited after the owner, Emily, personally reached out following my request for a call. She didn’t stumble upon the review online; she called because I left my number asking to speak with the owner, and to her credit, she followed through.
Our visit itself was disappointing, with long waits, missing items, and lackluster service, which I detailed in my original review. However, Emily handled our conversation with professionalism, understanding, and genuine concern for improving both the food quality and the customer experience moving forward.
While the meal still fell short of expectations, her willingness to take accountability and listen to feedback says a lot about where this restaurant could go under her leadership.
For that reason, I’ve raised my rating from one star to three. If you’re considering dining here, I’d suggest giving them a cautious chance, it seems the new ownership is actively working to make things better, and that deserves acknowledgment.

Very friendly atmosphere and the food was fantastic. We had the western omelette and Doug’s breakfast bowl. Generous portions and the biscuits are to die for We left feeling full and overall satisfied with our dining experience. We will definitely be coming back whenever we’re in the area.

I’ve been traveling through Wardensville, WV for over 40 years, and throughout all those years, the Kacapon Restaurant has always been a constant. It’s been a reliable, welcoming place to stop in for a great burger or some of the best fried chicken around.
The memories I’ve made here and the excitement of dining at this local gem will always stay with me.
Thank you for the decades of good food and great service.

My wife and I took a day trip to W Virginia from DC on July 5th and stumbled upon this cute little town in West Virginia. A couple of the locals in Wardensville suggested we try Kac-Ka-Pon before we head back to DC. I didn’t catch our servers name but he was a very polite young man. Did his job well. He suggested the baked haddock and I’m glad he did. It was fantastic. I had the haddock over rice, mashed with gravy and pickled beets. The beets were phenomenal. My wife had a pork chop with mashed and green beans. She was happy with her selection as well. Don’t forget to ask for rolls. They were warm and delicious. Our server asked us several times how our food was. He never let our soft drinks get empty which tells me he was paying attention to us. Lastly, the price was mind boggling to me. For the two delicious meals we had and several soft drinks, our total bill came to $30. I paid more than that for breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Manassas that morning. I couldn’t believe how fair the pricing was. I don’t think the team at Kac Ka Pon get a lot of visitors in their kitchen because I stepped in quickly to let the chef know how pleased we were and he looked at me like I had 3 heads. I was just trying to be friendly. Anyways, we would go back to this restaurant if we’re ever in Wardensville again.
