El Tequila is the best Hispanic restaurant in Maine. It is also one of the best places we’ve had Hispanic food in New England. Once you eat there, you’ll see why a lot of other Hispanic restaurants are subpar. One of the standout differences is that the restaurant is owned and operated by Hispanic people. They provide that authenticity that makes food taste better.
If you’ve never had Hispanic food before, or if your entire exposure is from fast food, then El Tequila will knock your socks off. The flavors are incredible. The portions are huge and you’ll definitely be taking some home. The entire menu is delicious from appetizers to desserts. The staff is so considerate and cordial. If you happen to speak Spanish, they are all fluent.
Inside and outside of the restaurant are so fun and beautifully decorated. The chairs are unique and vibrant, as well as the tables. El Tequila gets a massive vote of confidence from us. You absolutely must eat there if you are anywhere near Lewiston-Auburn.

Love their food! But the service is more than lackluster… both times we have been our service was awful. This past time we saw our waiter a total of 5 times. When he took our drink order, when he took our order, when he brought our food, when he brought 2 items he had forgotten from our order, and when he brought the check.
We were never checked on and our drinks were never refilled. I had to ask a different server walking around to bring us to-go containers.
This is a favorite for food but from now on we will be ordering to-go since the service isn’t worth going for.
