OMG! A local individual advised us to check out Pranee’s Thai and promised us we’d for sure appreciate the quality of the food served and we couldn’t have been more delighted to enjoy the Thai cuisine personally cooked up by Pranee herself! We ordered the pad thai with shrimp, the drunken noodles with fried pork belly, and panang curry with mahi mahi. Everything was delicious, fresh, bursting with unique flavor, and portion sizes were more than generous! Please go to Pranee’s Thai if you’re in Hana. They’re located by the school underneath the massive mango tree. You can’t miss it! ❤️

I live in NYC and this is the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Don’t miss it!! Crispy fish with mango salad is the best dish. The drunken crispy fish is delicious too, and the coconut soup. Fresh, perfectly cooked veggies, amazingly crispy fresh local fish, huge portions and low prices. WOW!

Best Thai food in the USA. Must get the crispy fish with green mango salad. Thai tea also good. We went back twice.

We had high hopes for this place given its great rating and positive reviews across different communities. I really wanted to enjoy the food, but perhaps we came at the wrong time, or maybe it was because they were out of the homemade chili sauce. We tried the drunken noodles and the signature Mahi & Cashew, but unfortunately both dishes felt a bit plain and greasy.

We stumbled upon this amazing Thai spot! The food had so much flavor and had just the right amount of spice. It felt like a local place and had a very chill atmosphere. I highly recommend the papaya fried fish salad. Definitely a 10/10.

Pranee’s has been around for a long time. 2019 was my initial visit.

ATMOSPHERE:
They’ve moved to a new location right next door to their first spot. The first location was a simple tented lanai, a bit dreary and damp. Their new location is much more inviting with a porch-like setting built up against the kitchen. Seating is a mix of low tops and counter. Parking is limited but street parking is available on either side of the property with a short walk.

MENU:
Beef, noodles, chicken, rice, fish, curry, soup, salad. They do not have sticky rice, only jasmine.

FOOD:
We ordered family-style though a single order can feed one to two people.

Spring Rolls
Four rolls come per order. They were of standard size, filling (pork and veggies) and taste. A sweet sauce came with for dipping but I ate mine plain.

Stir Fry Eggplant & Tofu
I’m not big on eggplant but my friend ordered this dish. I had some tofu which were nice and firm. The stir fry included veggies in a savory gravy and jasmine rice. I’ve never saw green eggplant before!

Stir Fry Chicken & Ginger
My choice for the table which was really good. Tender chicken slices and veggies in a savory gravy. It wasn’t gingery as I had imagined regardless of the fresh chunks of ginger used. A small serving of jasmine rice came to the side but wasn’t enough for two to share.

Green Papaya Salad
Not a huge fan of this either but the taste was there, a mix of sweet and slightly tart, with fresh and thinly cut slices of papaya and a copious amount of sauce.

SERVICE:
Order and pay at the cashier, grab a seat, wait for your number to be called, then pick up your food at the window. After you’re done, it’s clean up after yourselves. Why tips are expected are beyond me.

The male cashier was friendly, but he should’ve told us about the included rice with the dishes.

Food service was very quick despite it being fired-to-order!

TIPS:
A small portion of jasmine rice comes with most entrees, FYI. We ended up having too much rice as we ordered a side as we weren’t told about the inclusion.

Cards accepted.

OVERALL:
All dishes are made to order and came out steaming hot as I watched the window continuously. Tasty and fresh food with fair pricing. A definite return!

Excellent food!! Be prepared to wait. This place was a gem we found on our trip to Hāna. They have a small place with plenty of outdoor seating with views of the mountain. The food was hot and spicy – just like we asked for. We ordered the drunken noodles, pineapple fried rice and Thai Iced teas. Highly recommend.

Never thought we’d find such great Thai food in such a remote place! Easily the best food we had in Hana at a very reasonable price. Located just behind the Hyatt Resort, this spot is a hidden gem. The Stir Fry Mahi Mahi with Cashew was absolutely mouth-watering — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. They also have excellent vegan options, which is a big plus. Highly recommend stopping here if you make it to Hana!
