Got to meet the owner Jeff who came out and was very cool. Gave us the insight that the meat is FRESH and never frozen and it tastes like it… incredible. Chef JC whips up a mean Cheese Steak the way it should be. Get the fries… they are AMAZING! A must see if you are near Penn State! Go for it!

I love cheesesteaks when they’re made correctly, and Penn Steaks got it right! Truly excellent; I wish I visited this place sooner.
Super fresh rolls with the right texture that have some give, some squish, but still held up well to being stuffed with the steak, cheese, and add-ins/sauce. Also good quality ribeye steak that’s well chopped. I prefer mine with provolone and sweet peppers, along with marinara on top. But honestly, these cheesesteaks are good enough with just steak and cheese.
The fries here are shoestring, which is perfect if you don’t want soggy fries when you let them sit. Penn Steaks uses beef tallow which gives it a bit more savory taste. I’m not really into beef tallow for frying, yet I still enjoyed then. I’d still prefer Five Guys fries over these. But don’t let that stop you from trying them!
And the service was fantastic. The person taking my order was polite and helpful. I even met one of the co-owners who was very friendly! A great guy to chit-chat if you like that sort of thing. I learned quite a bit from him during my visit.
They sell their cheesesteaks in 6″, 9″, and 18″. The 9″ is generous and should satisfy most people. I might be able to finish an 18″ if was really hungry and didn’t add too much to it, but I’d be in pain afterwards! The 18″ is better for sharing.
I’ll stop by more often for a good cheesesteak. Next time I’ll get extra cheese on it and may be try their onion rings. I know I’ll probably be addicted to their cheesesteaks sooner or later.

This place came highly recommended to me. And it did not disappoint whatsoever. Best cheesesteak in State College, hands down. The whole place is a vibe and Lance was incredibly nice. 10/10 experience all the way around.

Saw them on ESPN Gameday, never been here before, and decided to check it out with the new Owners and name change. The lady at the counter was awesome and we had fun chatting with her. The place is small and PSU themed. Great for parties of 2-4 people. Parking is on a nearby street or parking garage.

Maybe they thought I asked for a “steak” sandwich because there was a cheese void. Even the picture looks like something’s missing. Anyway, I hope it was a one-off — I would give it another shot.

My husband and I had a great experience here. Staff was very friendly, food was yummy. Would definitely come back again. They even let us put on one of their big hats they had there and took a pic of us together 🙂 Stop by for a great cheesesteak!

Lance and Scarlette were very welcoming and helpful. The food is excellent. The steak in the cheesesteak is very obviously high quality. The toppings all around are very good and flavorful. Bread is outstanding. Probably the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had in this town. Great flavors, quality ingredients, and very filling. I’ll definitely be going back.

BEST CHEESESTEAK in the area i’ve tried manyyyy cheesesteak around the area and this is by far the best and always my first choice and the fries are amazing service was awesome too! super nice women took our order and had everything ready as soon as we got there the food was perfect and hot and the inside looked very clean and the atmosphere was cool with artwork but also small and cozy SERIOUSLY you have to try this place over anything else in state college area
