Today I went to Pastime. Went inside to order. I ask the lady how long is the wait. She said about 15 mins. I ordered the lunch special conch/ fries. I waited at least 40 mins for my food . I thought I was going to enjoy my food but the food had been cooked in bad grease. It smelled so bad. They needed to change the grease. Cooks should know when the grease needs to be change. It was awful. Please do better

Came here for my dad’s birthday on Thursday and our waitress, Tee Tee, made sure that he had a great time. The food was good and we were both happy that we decided to dine here.

Was on vacation in Hialeah and I wanted some late night food. I’m so glad I came across Pastime. The vibe was great, the service was excellent the FOOD was fire. Fired chicken wings was on point and the fries delicious. All the plates that was ordered were good. Not one complaint I would definitely come back here when I need my 1:30am food.

When I first walked in I was unsure whether to seat myself or wait to be seated….so I’m thinking okay let me stand here and look lost. I finally waved down one of the servers and she hurriedly said “sit whenever you like” and kept walking. I felt like

The restaurant wasn’t very busy so I’m not sure why the girl seemed flustered.
I had a basic breakfast with pancakes and sausage oh and a side of wings. The food tasted okay. I want to try conch and shrimp someday. The service from the waitress needs to improve because I didn’t want to tip her at all. I don’t want to feel like I’m a burden and you’re making your money from tips! I’m a big tipper in the service industry. Oh well.

First time eating here so the locals knew I was a new face lol. All the lady host are friendly and fineee. Now back to the food I ordered the grilled grouper with grits and eggs with a sweet pineapple punch. The grouper was well seasoned. The picture of the plate below is the aftermath.

This is my second time patronizing this restaurant. The food is on point. I enjoyed it. It was conveniently located on my commute. You can access by bus or train or drive there. I would recommend to order ahead to cut down on time. If you want an authentic black experience I definitely recommend this spot. Near or far it’s worth the trip. The food at this restaurant is excellent and has remained consistently great, which I truly appreciate. However, the area that needs significant improvement is customer service.
As a advocate for professional etiquette and customer service, I believe greeting customers promptly, being approachable, and answering questions without an attitude are essential for any successful business. Unfortunately, I experienced long waits without being acknowledged, which takes away from the overall dining experience.
It’s disappointing to see that good customer service is often overlooked, especially when the potential is clearly here. Other reviews mention smiles and friendliness, which shows it can be done—it just needs to be consistent. In hospitality, you never know who you are serving, so professionalism and courtesy should always be a priority.
