Definitely a little hole in the wall spot…Once I entered I was skeptical about ordering. The restaurant could definitely use a deep clean. Floor was very grimy. (Yes I ordered anyway) I ordered two oxtail dinners and a veggie plate. For dessert, fried cheese cake poundcake and a chocolate crumble cup. I waited 30min for the order and received a free pineapple lemonade for the wait. The food was OK nothing to brag about. Something I could have done myself. All the food could have been seasoned more. The collard greens were canned Glory greens. I know because I use them a lot. The cornbread was really small and too, too sweet. I paid a four star price for mediocre food. ($85) last, but not least the service was great the people there were very friendly and nice.

I just order from here for the first time using door dash. I hate to say it but the food is awful. I’m literally throwing it away. The meat loaf doesn’t look or taste like ground beef and has some type of sweet sauce poured all over it, that made it taste even worse. The collards taste like a box of salt was poured in it, and the Mac and cheese had no taste at all. I was thoroughly disappointed and wasted my money. Maybe this was a one time thing, but I definitely will not go back.

I cant speak to service and atmosphere because I ordered delivery from here. The food however was outstanding. I ordered two nights in a row and got flounder dinner one night and tilapia the next. The fish was delicious and not over cooked. I also had the shrimp and grits both nights, because it was so good. I live in the north and don’t get the chance to have shrimp and grits often. Very creamy and seasoned perfectly. I definitely can recommend ordering food from here.

I had the pleasure of tasting this wonderful food! My oxtails were seasoned perfectly and so tender that they were falling off the bone. The cornbread was hot and fresh with a honey butter drizzle that was amazing. The cabbage had the best garlic butter Cajun flavor I’ve ever tasted! The customer service was wonderful. We were greeted with smiles the second we walked through the door! The owner came out and made sure we were happy with our meals which we certainly were. As for dessert, the fried cake is out of this world! Adding a touch of the caramel drizzle took it to the next level. I HIGHLY recommend this taste of heaven!

This restaurant is in a plaza with a gas station. The look and feel of the restaurant is what you may expect in this type of location. The customer service was pleasant. I saw mixed reviews so I decided to try it for myself. I got the Pork Chops with Mac & Cheese, Mashed Potatoes and it came with Rice & Cornbread. The Pork Chops are extremely small and thin which is not an issue with me but may be for some. I was unable to taste the cheese in the Mac & Cheese & it had a “dressing” like consistency. I would give my overall experience a 5 out of 10. I recommend the restaurant work on improving the sides here.

We tried them for the first time today. My neighbor asked for a ride to pick up some fried gizzards the restaurant bought out just for her. The restaurant is dark and could use a little upgrade. But the staff were so great I had to buy something. I have a lot of food allergies and they were so patient and kind. I was able to get the turkey wing dinner without the gravy. The wing was huge, a tiny bit overcooked, but flavorful. The yams were good and are like a smashed texture, not candied or saucy. The Lima beans were good, but a little salty for me. Perfect texture. We live a good while away and our food was still warm once we arrived home. My daughter got the fried flounder and fries and enjoyed every bite. The flounder were large and made to order.

Customer service & atmosphere was so pleasant and welcoming. The owner has true southern hospitality and takes her time making everything homemade and with love. I had an oxtail plate with greens & mixed beans and every bite was delicious!! I even had enough for the next day too. Not only is the food great but the portions are worth it too. This place is a true gem and menu has many options. Oh yeah I can’t forget the melt in your mouth pound cake!! I could eat here every day!!! We finally have a great soul food spot in Covington!!

Ok, I’ll be honest, the price ($18.18) was bothering me, considering that I’ve never eaten there before, and every southern restaurant failed my taste test.
But EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!!!
I’m definitely going back at least one more time. I just wish the dinner came with a drink and, of course, more dinner options.
*edit* had to come back for the meatloaf

Nice gem in Porterdale. I loved the chitterlings, oxtails, baked chicken meals and shrimp. The taste is authentic to the southern soul food flavor you can only experience in the South!

The owner was very welcoming, generous, and courteous. I didn’t feel like cooking but wanted soul-food. I researched and found an absolute gem! I called and made it 30 minutes before closing. I ordered the ox tails that comes with rice, my 2 sides were cabbage & collard greens. I ordered the soul-food rolls which consists of smoked turkey, collard greens, mac n cheese, yams, and cornbread. I also ordered my guy the turkey wings, collards & mac n cheese & I ordered a slice of cream cheese pound cake. It was SO good we neglected to take pics but I’ll take them the next time because I’m DEFINITELY returning. Aight, so let’s get into this; the oxtails were seasoned to perfection. (Y’all, it was like I made these myself!) The cabbage was scrumptious and the collard greens too! I’m not going to lie, I like Barney’s soul rolls more only because I’m not a fan of cornbread, BUT they were very tasty! My daughter loved it! We stood at my dresser putting the shakedown on that food until we were satiated. My guy arrived and silently gobbled his plate down (I had to remind him to say grace!) Afterwards we sat in the living room to watch a movie. I tasted the cake and it was moist and flavorful! I was too full to eat it but planned on eating it later. My son entered to tell me goodnight and gave me a hug. In the midst his hoodie caught onto the container and KNOCKED MY CAKE ONTO THE FLOOR He apologized but I wasn’t upset after all it was unintentional. The next day I called A Taste of Heaven to inquire if they had any more of that cake. The owner replied yes. When I arrived a few hours later I was met with the same exuberant energy as the night before. I ordered another slice of cake and shared what happened. I got home to not one but two slices of cake. I almost cried. I don’t know the owner yet, but she is obviously passionate about cooking, she’s hood, and she’s a sweetheart. Her food is definitely a taste of heaven and I’m praying that a way is made for me to bless her business with more than a $10 tip. I wish this business all of the success in growing because the service and food is one of a kind superb! Oh yeah she also gave me 2 teas the night when I ordered the food and it was VERY sweet but the taste was SO SO SO SO SO great!!!
