I moved to the area last year from Chicago, where I had plenty of great panadería options, so I was really excited to find this place. The shop itself is clean, and the bread looked absolutely beautiful and very appealing. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste the way it looked.
All of the bread we purchased was extremely stale — and not just “end of the day” stale. Bread doesn’t get that hard and dry in a matter of hours. It honestly tasted days old. We bought five different varieties, and every single one was the same. I was genuinely disappointed because I really wanted it to be good. In the end, we threw it all out — almost $15 wasted.
I truly hope this was just an off few days for them, because as a small business owner myself, I never want to see another business fail. However, based on this experience, I can’t recommend it. I would also encourage them to ensure freshness across all products, especially refrigerated desserts like tres leches cakes, as freshness is so important for both quality and safety.
I’m hoping things improve, but unfortunately, I won’t be returning at this time.

Absolutely enjoyed this hole in the wall bakery. I don’t think anybody else makes pastries as big as they do and surprisingly most are under $2. Some of the selection changes daily so the nice lady working here is willing to help you out. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem.

Has the potential to be an amazing bakery. Sadly they let bread sit for days I stopped going for this very reason. Stale bread at full price is ridiculous. When I was lucky enough to get fresh bread it was outstanding. I never seen day old bread on sale, and once watched the same cookie sit for a couple days.

My friends and I walked into the bakery wanting to get some pastries and when we checked out no one was there to attend us so we decided to look for more stuff but as soon as that happens a worker walks in and asks us rudely is that all as if he didn’t want us to be there and then starts rushing us, and when one of my friends asks for a spoon the worker doesnt answer and when he asks again the worker responds with “in a minute” but in a rude way. The customer service was trash, do not come here if you dont know how to deal with rude workers!!!

10/10! Vsited many times now, and each time, I am blown away more by the authenticity of their pastries. The bakery has over 100 different kinds of Mexican pastries all handmade by a baker with more than 20 years of experience making Mexican sweet breads. The rotating bread selection was fresh and delicious. The expertise of the baker was evident in every bite. The service was very kind and welcoming.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican pastries in Urbana. As a bonus, they do accept NFT payment methods, including Samsung pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay, in addition to the traditional cash and cards.

I visit this bakery on the regular for their delicious pastries, and my daughter loves their conchas, but I bought a cake for my husbands birthday to get away from the typical store bought sheet cake, and it was THE BEST Tres Leches cake that I have ever had, and so beautiful.

I felt like eating food that reminded me of home so I went here. I should have passed.
The pigs were hard, crispy, and crunchy. The piggy’s are supposed to be soft and very tasty.
There really is not much of a selection for sweet bread. And it is quite over priced.
Hard pass.

Amazing bakery! I suggest it to everyone I know— the workers are so kind and inviting. You walk in, pick out what pastries you would like with clean tongs, place them on a tray, then you go to check out whenever you’re ready. The first time that I went, I was nervous to see how much everything would cost as I was getting checked out (local bakeries can be pricey), but I was pleased to find out that everything was surprisingly affordable!!
This place is perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even dessert— they even have Mexican hot chocolate, coffee, Jarritos, and Coca-Cola (in the glass bottle of course!) If you choose to eat there, they have comfortable couches and an area for children, and I have never had any troubles with parking.
