I love sashimi, and I’ve been here 3 times for sashimi. It’s been good twice and bad once. It’s always fresh and the presentation lovely. But this last time there were a quite a lot of pinbones. I thought they were tendons, and a lot was too thick to chew through. If it’s just one piece that’s ok, but spending half a meal pulling half-eaten white ropes from your mouth is not enjoyable.
Eating here is a luxury so either wasting or not enjoying your meal is more of an issue than a burger joint. Please refresh the chefs on how to get rid of the bones (: great staff and wonderful quality otherwise!

Great sushi! Decent prices and a large space for social distanced dining. Don’t let the “casual” ambiance throw you off, the food is delicious with fun and unique rolls offered. Good selection of sake. Great staff that wanted to see you enjoy your meal. Looking forward to coming back.

I rarely write poor reviews. This experience was terrible. When we arrived, the “gentleman” actually seemed annoyed by rolling his eyes as we walked in. Temperature in the room was very cold. Food… Simply “ok at best.” I would compare to Safeway Deli. Rolls were not good, teriyaki was sweet and lacking any flavor. Unfortunate as we were excited to experience sushi in Ocean Shores. Big letdown here. Very poor service, not good food. Will not return.

Creamy crab filling in a beautifully plated Dragon Roll that was firmly formed. Eel was tasty on top.
Veggie fried rice was amazing. All the ingredients were bite sized and had great and individual texture. Bonus house salad! So tasty!

I’m truly impressed. It’s taken me a while to give Umi a try because I’m very picky about my sushi. Went today for lunch and can say I’ll be back. Staff was friendly, offered up suggestions. Their menu is huge and creative. Best of all the fish was fresh and delicious. We made a dent in the menu wanting to try some of everything. Would recommend if your visiting to give them a try.

We’ve been eating there for the last 5 plus years every time we come into town. This guy who originally owned it was a contestant on iron chef. The sushi was incredible before. Apparently the new owners bought it within the last couple years. Not to mention it was very expensive. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll. The shrimp tempera was cold, was not freshly made. The race wrapped in the seaweed tasted like it was sitting in the refrigerator for a while. It took 25 minutes to get our sushi even though there was only three tables filled. I spent nearly $60 on one sushi roll. One popcorn shrimp and one heart attack roll wrapped in jalapenos. We’re definitely not going back there again. We would look so forward to going there every year. I don’t care about waiting but when the sushi is not going to be freshly made. It’s not worth it. I can’t stand it when these places charge $22 for a roll and pull items out of the refrigerator to make it. If you get a fresh shrimp tempura roll the shrimp tempura should be freshly deep fried. Not to mention the rice and seaweed had to come out of the refrigerator. The seaweed with gummy

We came for lunch.. we enjoyed the Hawaiian and Orange Blossom. These were great combinations. The service was mediocre and the food make up for the experience. It is casual dining. If the service and decor was upgraded this could be a higher caliber establishment. We also had gyoza and Nigori Cloudy Sake.
