After years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, Jim and Dina started the Golden Basket in Westmont where they saw their dream come to life, crafting their own breakfast hotspot in the west suburbs of Chicago. We ordered a Skirt Steak Skillet with hashbrowns, two eggs and a pancake. The skillet was scrumptious. And a Chicken Caesar salad, which was good. Our service was friendly, atmosphere was relaxing and the facility was impeccably clean.

The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly, which made for a pleasant start to the morning. However, the coffee left much to be desired—it was weak and lacked the robust flavor I was hoping for .
As for the food, it was average. I tried the Denver omelet, which was decent but didn’t stand out in terms of taste or presentation. The hash browns were a bit undercooked and lacked seasoning. While the portions were generous, the overall flavor profile was somewhat bland
In summary, while the Golden Basket offers a cozy environment and friendly service, the coffee and food could use some improvement to match the inviting atmosphere.

Came to this place with a friend for the first time and back then I just had coffee.
Today I came back again and have to try the food. I ordered the Pancakes platter and was delicious, home made flavor and taste.
The waitress are beyond in service, very attentive and polite.
The place is clean and colorful, peacefully and comfortable at the same time.
I’m becoming a regular, highly recommended.

We have visited this place several times now and this place only gets better. Staff are incredibly friendly and respectful. One of our favorites plates is the Latina Omelette. They also offer high-protein and low fat options. The feta-spinach omelette is a great healthy alternative with few ingredients, particularly for those with dietary restriction or gut sensitivity. You can customize your dish anyway. The only bad thing I would say is that sometimes the hash browns and overall food are a bit salty, but you can request no salt or low salt.
Coffee tastes good and the pancakes are good too, those with banana & nuts are delicious.
Lastly, one thing I like from this place is that the bathrooms are exceptionally clean, which is highly appreciated.
Place is very busy on the weekends, particularly on Sundays.

Very personable and attentive staff. Food portions are generous and coffee is so good. We don’t live anywhere near the area and found this place when driving out for an errand but have gone back several times( and will continue to go back) despite the 40 minute drive from Bucktown. 🙂

Most restaurants have friendly servers. This place they make you feel like family. The food is good, fresh and not greasy. The restrooms are clean too!
If you are looking for a quality breakfast spot in the area, this is the place to go. Drinks are always full. Praying is easily done by card at your table. And the food is more affordable than most establishments in this high inflation time.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. Stopped by with my wife on a Saturday morning. I ordered a meat omelette with hash browns and a pancake. One of the best omelettes I’ve had and the pancake was delicious. Attentive service without being too attentive as sometimes other places are “checking in” too often and not letting me and my family enjoy our meal. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend if you’re local to the area or just passing through.
