Upon arrival, the staff were polite, attentive, and quick to greet. Service throughout the meal was efficient. Water refills came without needing to ask, and our server checked in at appropriate intervals without hovering. That level of attention shows care in hospitality, which many restaurants overlook. The dining room, while modest, was clean and organized. Tables were cleared promptly, and there was noticeable effort in maintaining the environment for guests.
The menu offers a wide selection of traditional Chinese and Asian-inspired dishes. Portions are generous, making pricing fair for the amount served. Dishes arrived hot, fresh, and within a reasonable timeframe, even during a busy dining period. The quality of ingredients—especially vegetables and proteins—was solid, cooked properly, and presented well.
There are areas where enhancement would elevate the experience further. Some dishes lacked the depth of flavor one would expect from classic recipes. Seasoning and sauces felt mild at times, as if tailored too cautiously to broad preferences. A slight increase in aromatics—garlic, ginger, and spices—would bring far more character and authenticity to the flavors. Additionally, small service details such as offering chopsticks or checking on dietary preferences could add to the overall cultural and personal experience.
Despite those notes, the value remains strong. Guests seeking hearty portions, friendly service, and budget-conscious dining will appreciate what Bamboo Palace provides. It is the kind of local establishment that thrives when customers offer clear feedback, and the team seems willing to listen and improve.
I will return to try other dishes and look forward to experiencing the restaurant’s continued growth. With a bit more focus on flavor refinement, Bamboo Palace has the potential to shift from a dependable option to a standout favorite in the area. The foundations are here—generous servings, pleasant service, and a clean environment. Continued attention to seasoning and presentation could elevate everything to the next level.
Overall, I appreciate the effort and hospitality from the team, and I am optimistic about what’s ahead for this restaurant.
With no chopsticks on the table, I knew it was going to be “WPF” style Chinese. The small wor wonton was massive, but lacked “seafood” no squid, no octopus, no scallops, 4 tiny shrimp, lots of bamboo (but no shoots) a small amount of bokchoy, but no gai lan, LOTS of western broccoli, LOTS of celery, the broth was hot, but tasted like just hot water, not chicken bone broth, even soy sauce didn’t help it.
The dinner for 1 tiny amount of S&S pork, a lot of very bland chow mein, bbq pork chop suey was 3 piece of thin sliced pork, a ton of western broccoli, and no flavor.
I left full, but disappointed.
The menu prices were different than the online menu as well. $18.95 menu for dinner for 1 ($17.95 online) wor wonton $17.95 menu ($16.95 online).
I just won’t be back, I know other places in Abbotsford that are better. BP will stay a childhood memory.
Prices were very reasonable and fair. Just wasn’t tasty.
Service was awful. Waitress couldn’t keep our orders straight, it took forever (we were there almost 2 hours), and one dinner came incorrect, they blamed us gor mixing them up and took nearly 15 minutes to bring the correct dinner.
