I wasn’t going to leave a review at first, but I actually have to. A ROACH WAS IN MY SEAFOOD BOIL. I had already started eating ….I had a little crab, a little corn, a little potato and then a little shrimp. After I ate some shrimp, I started peeling ALL the shrimp to drop them in the sauce. After peeling about 5/6 shrimp, the last shrimp I picked up had a roach fall from it into the juice….I immediately told my friend what happened and she said “naaaah can’t be….maybe it’s a shrimp tail or something ” to make me feel better….that’s when I picked it up with a fork and transferred it to a papertowel…absolutely a roach!!! And it was cookkkked! The body fell off the boneeee! I took it to our server who was up front and she quickly took it to her manager. (I really appreciate the server, she was actually great) The manager came around the corner fast from the kitchen, stopped at our table, and all she said was “I can remake it for you?” HUH GIRL WHO?!? In what l world would it make sense to remake this knowing you have roaches in the back DANCIN in the shrimp?!?! .….thats what I should have said. But to avoid making a COMPLETE SCENE like my momma would have….. I simply looked at my friend and told her “….no I don’t want anything else….” the manager just looked at us confused as if we were supposed to just take that offer. Absolutely no apology…and I’m sure there’s been no resolution to her pest problem as this was 2 days ago. Only reason I didn’t post it then is because I got side tracked while typing this long review and the page refreshed….but I remembered today and HAD to post this before they opened….this experience did it for me ….Horrible. Never again. And now that I’m seeing the past reviews and that their health rating was in the 70s just last year and on the way out I saw it was a 91 now they honestly should be closing. No doubt about that. Me and my friend were so excited to try this place out because I’ve been in Winston almost a year and we really wanted a crab boil.…big mistake coming to this place. Hope this review helps someone avoid what I went through. I’m traumatized.

I spent $24 + on a fish and shrimp basket at Crafty Crab and it was a complete waste of money. The portion I received was basically a kids meal the fish were literally tiny nuggets, not even whole or half pieces. The breading was soft and mushy and greasy not crispy at all. The slaw was just a glob of mayo sitting on top, not even mixed. The only thing that felt like a normal portion was the fries, and that’s saying something. For $24, I expected an adult meal, not a child-sized plate. Extremely disappointing takeout experience and I won’t be ordering again.

The food was spot on. Definitely going to be eating here again. However I’ll be getting it to go. Our waitress was super Unattentive my husband never got a refill on his drink and had to drink mine. She didn’t check on us until over halfway through our meal and my husband was missing his vegetables so he didn’t eat them that day we brought them home because by the time we got them we were almost ready to go. Our waitress then totally dissapeared for 20 minutes my husband went and looked for her twice come to find out I found her coming in from outside. Smoking is my guess. Dunno though. And if it seems like we were being impatient I want to point out that there was only 3 guests in the whole restaurant and one of them belonged to the other waitress on duty. Bad service great food! Get it to go!

The food was cooked well, the flavors were good, the waitress was nice, but why were we blaring club music ? We had gone to another crab shack before but they were also blaring club music so we chose this one and still ended up trying to have a nice dinner while “tootsie roll “ blared in our ears. The music was certainly a choice. We won’t be back due to the music and gross restrooms. Sometimes I wanna eat crab and laugh with my husband and baby without feeling like I’m at a club. Anyone know of any places that play “conversation level” music that maybe isn’t raunchy? Thanks ! Oh, and the bathroom smelled like straight up sewage and didn’t feel clean.

Even on a holiday where a restaurant is busy… no one should be LIED to about the wait time for an online order. A “few more minutes” has turned into upwards of 1.5 almost 2 whole hours for a meal. If you are too overwhelmed during a busy time frame at least own it.

It was ok. Visited on a Tuesday at 6pm and there was only one other table seated. No one else arrived the entire time I was there. Ordered fried oysters and gumbo. Oysters were small and there were about 10 for $17, just ok. Gumbo was also ok but did have 3 large shrimp in it. Service was friendly but not super.

As soon as you walk in you will see the daily specials. There is a full bar that you can sit at as well as a large dining area. It is a very laid back atmosphere. We were seated immediately and host as well as server was very friendly. There is a nice selection of mixed drinks as well as beers. There are a few small dishes but the main attraction are the seafood boil bags. We are not big ballers so we did not get the Fri/Sat “Market Price” lobster tails with snow crabs. We opted for the pound of headless shrimp bag and the pound of mussels. Both come with corn and potatoes. For an up charge, you can add sausage, eggs, or more corn and potatoes. There are different sauces and heat levels. We tried the Crafty house sauce(Will get med next time) and the garlic butter(could have been a bit more garlicky). We were satisfied with both. If you worry about your salt intake then I suggest you get the sauce on the side, this way you avoid your BP going up. Mine went up cause I live on the edge!

All I can say is “OMG this place has been here this long and we just have tried it and WILL be back!!” Hands down 10 out of 10 on the food, servant atmosphere. Absolutely some of the best seafood I’ve had in YEARS!!!

The food was so good and I was so full after. The servers were very nice and caring. The atmosphere was very cool and you can even draw on the tables and write your name on the wall.
