However, on the second visit, fish wasn’t that fresh, which is fine since the price is low, I cannot complain much.
More importantly, the service was quite disappointing. I came for happy hour, I had to be idly waiting for a few times for waiter to bring me the menu. He is not proactive at all. In the last round, I order some food including a seafood udon. Everything else was served and ate, and I waited maybe 10 mins, the udon didn’t come. Waiter came to me and asked if I need more food. I told him that udon hasn’t come. He went to check. Then 10 more mins, he said he will check again. And 10 more mins later, instead of waiting, I had to wave at him to ask for status. He was giving me an excuse, like “I don’t make food, the kitchen does”. Yes, of course, but that’s your duty to make sure that food is delivered to my table.
I’m really unhappy about the delay of food delivery and his attitude. I don’t think I’ll visit again given the food quality and service varies so much. I don’t have time to just seat and wait.
Unfortunately, the service fell very short. Our server, Jun, was kind and polite, but not attentive. At one point I had to get up to ask for drinks and locate other servers, as there was no other way to get his attention. At one point, when we stopped him as he walked by, he responded with “what’s up,” which felt unprofessional in a dining setting as if we were burdening him.
When I needed water, I had to get out of my booth and ask a server from another section. She did not come up to the booth and instead spoke to me from behind it, and initially did not seem willing to come over at all since it wasn’t her section. This added to the overall feeling of inattentive service.
Additionally, instead of bringing a pitcher to the table to refill drinks, our used cups were taken to the back, which was uncomfortable. The soda we were served was very flat, and everyone at the table ended up sending it back.
While the food quality was good, the lack of attentiveness and multiple service issues significantly impacted the experience. Because of this, I don’t plan on returning. There are other options, such as Sushi Taku, that offer a better overall experience in my opinion.
We were both absolutely starving and this place hit the spot. We ordered Lychetinis, mussels, chicken karaage, Yellowtail and Tuna Tataki specials, salmon belly sushi , the Rising Phoenix Roll, Charlotte Roll, Rainbow Roll — and more! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
Our server, Cindy, was fantastic — super attentive and made sure we were well taken care of from start to finish. The food, service, ambiance, and location all exceeded our expectations.
Overall, we left full and happy. We’ll definitely be back!
