Very Cute Diner. Staff was very attentive. An upscale diner with great food. They serve breakfast all day. My daughter had the chicken fingers I had the big breakfast. It is Texas size portions. Will visit again when I’m in Katy.

popular breakfast spot that offers most of your American breakfast favorites in a homely atmosphere.

can get busy on weekends so there could be a wait.

extensive menu. wait staff is friendly and helpful but busy because they are understaffed when busy.

the food is bland but comes out fairly quickly. they may cater to an older crowd but we would like bolder flavors. for example the migas blanco could use more spice and bolder Mexican flavors throughout. the Hollandaise sauce in Avalon Benedict was diluted and could be more rich and buttery with more salt and cayenne.

decent amount of parking in the lot.

Avalon Diner is a classic spot with an old-school diner feel, but the food was a bit underwhelming. I tried the Migas Blanco and Blueberry Pancakes, and while both were decent, neither stood out. The migas had a mild flavor and could have used more seasoning or spice. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy but nothing special—just your standard diner fare. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was nostalgic, but overall, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. It’s an okay choice if you’re looking for a casual breakfast, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

I recently visited Avalon’s Diner while staying in Houston, and I must say, it lived up to every expectation! My boyfriend is a huge fan of their chicken finger baskets since high school, so I had to try them for myself, and I’m so glad I did. I went with the regular chicken fingers, and they were absolutely delicious— crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The highlight for me was the honey mustard sauce; it was light, buttery, and a perfect complement to the dish.

Our server was fantastic too! She was incredibly kind and had a great sense of humor, keeping us laughing throughout our meal. It really added to the overall warm and welcoming atmosphere of the place. Avalon’s Diner is definitely a gem, and I’m looking forward to my next visit!

Been here many a time, figured I would review finally. Always a nice standard experience at Avalon diner, food is good, not great, but good. I usually get the big breakfast, with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes and a chocolate milk.

I had a wonderful dining experience at this Avalon Diner on Katy Freeway. Employees were friendly and food came out quickly. My first meal was the 1938 Burger. It was so delicious. Then, I brought my friends to eat brunch here one day last month. Service was awesome. The breakfast items were huge. I would be back soon.

So the seating is odd. You basically walk in and the lady at the front tells you how many people are in front of you and you all just wait for people to leave and than take the table you want. She could actually seat you but that would too much work for her. The food was really good. French toast was cooked perfectly and eggs done really well. Biscuit was super fluffy and good. Loved the sausage. Coffee however was really bad. Next time a Diet Coke for me. :). All in all would totally go back

Enjoyed interacting with the server, but she was not very attentive, first she did not bring my order as ordered. Grits not hash browns, since I ordered corned beef hash with eggs, secondly I was charged for coffee, I did not have any coffee from this diner, I bought my coffee with me from Starbucks and third I was over charged by $10.00 by the cashier. She said something unintelligible and charged my card a second time, the correct amount. Now I will have to check my CC account to make sure they submitted the correct amount.

The restaurant has a diner feel. The food was good overall, but my hashbrowns were a bit undercooked and cold. Aside from that, the flavors were solid, and I’d still consider going back to give them another shot.
