Hikari Sushi is a beautiful place—an old house with a cozy, pleasant atmosphere and a subtle Japanese style. Right from the start, it felt inviting. For my appetizer, I ordered the tuna tataki, which was excellent. The flavor was fresh, the tuna was high quality, and the tuna slices were cut perfectly. You can tell the sushi chef has great technique. I really liked the combination of the sauce with the wasabi; it all came together very well.

For my wife, we ordered the Bento Dinner, which comes with a bit of everything. The miso soup was hot and comforting, the salad was fresh and crunchy, and the Japanese-style rice was well prepared. The teriyaki—this time beef—had a great flavor with a delicious smoky touch. The tempura vegetables were perfectly made, lightly coated and crispy at the right temperature. The deep-fried gyozas were seasoned very well, and the half California roll was fresh and tasty. Altogether, this plate offered a great mix of flavors, allowing you to try a little of everything and enjoy different textures.

I ordered the Spicy Seafood Yaki Udon, served in a hot skillet. The flavor is a blend of seafood notes with a hint of sweetness. It comes with octopus, calamari, shrimp, and mussels. Personally, I’m not usually a fan of mussels, but they fit perfectly in this dish. At first, I asked for it not too spicy, but I felt it needed a bit more punch, so I asked for some extra spicy sauce on the side. Adding it brought the dish to another level—the heat blended beautifully with the sweetness and made the flavors stand out even more.

Overall, it was a very good experience. We left satisfied, the service was attentive, and the staff checked on us regularly. They also have a great variety of dishes to choose from. If you want to try high-quality Japanese food, this is definitely a great place. I recommend it.

The moment we walked in, the smell was awful. The place was extremely unhygienic. The floor was dirty, and everything looked neglected. The restaurant is very old and clearly hasn’t been renovated in decades. Even the plates and cups were peeling and losing their color. The amount of dirt was shocking. It honestly felt like stepping into a war-damaged building. This place should not be open in its current condition. On top of all that there were flies all around us on our table

Some of the best Japanese food I’ve had outside of Japan. I was able to get curry that tasted just like it was out of oji-sans tiny shop in Tokyo!

Great drinks and great service as well!

I will make this review short and simple, because that would summarize my experience at Hikari

They have high quality sushi. EXCELLENT nigiri pieces.

Miso soup should not be that good for only 3$

The rolls were good. Not mind blowing.

Customer service was not an issue.

Would i come back?
honest answer is No.
Reason being: for the price i paid (with Tip) , was like 53$. I was not 100% full. I have an abnormal amount of food that i need to intake to be satisfyingly full. And for that price, it did not hit its mark.

Overall 4.3/5

The food was very good and high quality compared to most places in the city. You get what you pay for here. The service was a little slow but other than that everything was fine. Miso soup was good and the sushi was top notch.

Just like in the photo, each piece glistens with freshness—the salmon is buttery, the tuna rich and vibrant, and the rice perfectly seasoned. The presentation is artful, with vibrant colors and clean plating that make every dish Instagram-worthy. While it’s a bit pricey, the quality matches the cost, especially for special occasions or when you’re craving top-tier sushi.

You can almost taste the care put into each roll, from the delicate slices of fish to the crisp nori and balanced flavors. The ambiance, much like the photo’s sleek aesthetic, is modern and inviting. If you don’t mind treating yourself, this spot delivers an unforgettable sushi experience worth every penny!

Hikari is easily one of the best dining experiences in Windsor. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, clean, and welcoming. The staff are incredibly polite, attentive, and genuinely make you feel taken care of.

The food is the real highlight — everything is fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The sushi is top tier: super fresh fish, perfect rice, and creative rolls that actually taste as good as they look. Their hot dishes are just as impressive, especially the ramen and tempura. Portions are generous and the quality is consistently excellent.

Service is quick, pricing is fair, and the overall experience keeps you wanting to return. Whether it’s a casual dinner or something special, Hikari delivers every time.

Highly recommend to anyone in Windsor looking for amazing Japanese food. A true gem!

One of the best sushi places in the city. Very rich tasting sushi that I’ve had in a while. Even though the price might be slightly higher than other places, the quality of the food and ambience really makes it a nice dinner date. I also tried the pork katsu curry curry and the volcano shrimp. All great items.

It is really difficult to try not to come in with a Toronto bias to the food scene in Windsor. I will try to come off objectively, I think one of the biggest things and this is supposed to be an industry standard is ticket times. From order to receiving, it took quite a long time >30 mins. Now, I will understand if it’s understaffed but it didn’t look like it. That and not seeing a server after ordering food to top up drinks is probably my biggest gripe about this place. Food wise, I think some dishes try to be creative but end up missing the nail completely. Fuji San roll as an example is supposed to come on a sizzling plate, but the roll does not sizzle. I imagine it was for texture purposes, but the roll was just warm. Okonomiyaki was disappointing, it seems to me that overcooked and over mixed the batter so it was just like this pasty pancake. I would say that their Korean dishes are definitely better than their sushi, it is just that pricing is pretty nuts. I get it, portions are bigger but sometimes having a large portion doesn’t make up for the value. Likely will not be revisiting but for any tourist it’s a pretty decent spot for Korean food.
