Okay, the renovation created a pizzeria atmosphere just like any in Queens NY or Long Island ny. I have been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years. The pizza is just like queens/NYC pizza which I love and grew up on, the calzone and peperoni rolls were amazing along with the large pizza and white pizza, can’t wait to try the scicillian pizza. We went with friends also from Queens NY and he said it was amazing food and pizza. A new pizzeria gem in Cape Coral!
Don’t compare it to what was meaning table sit down, waiter service and a fancy restaurant type atmosphere. The owners changed with the times and have now brought to Cape Coral an authentic NYC pizza place serving fantastic pizza and food ! With that NYC pizza place vibe…. Order a pie sit down and enjoy!

We recently visited Mangia Bene Big Slice in Central Cape Coral off Del Prado, and it truly impressed us.
From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and genuinely family oriented. Even though it was our first time, we were treated like we had been coming in for years. That kind of authenticity stands out.
The service was consistent from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and professional without feeling forced.
We tried several different slices because everything looked incredible, and every single one delivered. The crust was exactly right, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the flavor was balanced. We have lived in Cape Coral for almost six years, and this is easily some of the best pizza we have had here.
As a fellow small business owner, it is refreshing to see a family owned spot thriving in a large community. That does not happen by chance. It reflects strong leadership, quality execution, and a commitment to the customer experience.

I always thought that Mangia Bene Pizza was decent for Cape Coral pizza. The have recently changed to Big Slice Mangia Bene. I figured I’ll be as fair as possible. I figured I’d give their slices a try. First I’ll say there’s nothing big about the slice it’s about the size of a regular slice you would get anywhere else. The renovation from what it was to what it is now is a great job. They took the old outdated dining area and revamped it to look like a typical pizza slice shop. I’ll start by saying the pizza taste fair at best. And believe me it’s saddens me to say this because it seems it has changed. I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what changed because the crust and the undercarriage was pretty decent. I think it’s the sauce that was off. Tasted like store-bought sauce. The other advice I can give them because they’ve only been open for a few days and maybe they’re not familiar with running a slice shop. Do not heat up a slice until the cheese is bubbling. Nobody wants to order a slice and then have to wait 10 minutes to eat it plus it starts to recook the pizza. Maybe that caused the off taste. The pizza should be in that oven for no more than 45 to 75 seconds. I ordered a slice and it was in the oven for almost 5 minutes. I know this wasn’t a one-off because I watched them do it to other slices, while I was waiting 10 minutes to eat my pizza. When it came out the cheese was bubbling the bottom was darker than it should have been and I had to wait quite some time before I can even attempt to take a bite. My next piece of advice is and I’m not at all saying that they are doing this but, I see this failure in many places. Please throw out what you don’t sell. Do not refrigerate it, do not store it, do not put it back in the glass case the next day If you don’t sell it by closing time throw it out. If you’re going to feel you are losing money by throwing pizza out don’t make that specialty type anymore, it’s definitely better to not have it than to sell day and a half old pizza.
Overall I like the look and the variety of pizza available. I wish them luck because we lost a good place recently for slices in the Cape (Leones) it would be good to have an new option. Lastly, I would suggest a slice/lunch combo special. I paid $7.50 for a plain cheese slice and a can of Diet Coke. I know an extremely popular place in Fort Myers (rated #3 in the whole state) that has bigger slices and has a 2 slice and a can lunch special for $1.50 less and the pizza is amazing. Yes that’s 2 slices for $1.50 less.

When you first walk in, everybody is so friendly and then you see all the different varieties of delicious pizza that they have to offer. This place has been beautifully redone, and the food was amazing. Definitely will be visiting again soon.

My wife and I used to love this place. Tonight, we walked in and were shocked to see that the atmosphere had gone from “quaint little Italian date night spot” to something that looks more like a Subway that serves spaghetti and meatballs. The comfy booths have been replaced with uncomfortable metal chairs. The lighting has gone from soft and romantic to bright and unappealing. Finally, we expected the cheaper atmosphere to mean cheaper prices, but this was not the case… They ask $4 for a single slice of cheese pizza, $6 or $7 for a single slice of their “specialty” pizzas, and almost 20 bucks for a simple order of fettucine alfredo. We’re very disappointed to see what’s happened to what was once our favorite Italian eatery in Cape Coral.
In the interest of fairness, I’m going to say this:
– When I spoke to the staff, they were very friendly. They seem like hard-working folks who are genuinely eager to please their customers.
– One of the employees (or possibly the owner) explained that the updated model was better for business, which may very well be true. If it proves to be more profitable, then maybe it was a smart move.
– The new concept has more of an NYC pizza joint feel, which is fine, but we left before trying the food because we were looking for a full-service Italian restaurant experience. This is why I didn’t rate the food or service. It’s entirely possible that the food is great. Maybe we’ll stop in to grab a slice for lunch in the future, and I’ll be able to update this review at that time.

Can’t believe we’ve never tried this place before. Absolutely my favorite place to get pizza now. Before – nobody touched downtown pizza in Fort Myers.. this place totally changed that idea. Every slice we tried was great! The cheesecake, well worth it!

First, I wish I took pictures of the food. It smelled too good and it tasted even better. Have the Philly Cheesesteak. I am so glad Michael suggested it. I’m a cheesesteak snob and have been disappointed around here. It was bigger than I expected and although I was full after eating half of it…I kept going. We live around 15 minutes away and somehow all the food was still nice and hot. NATALIA!! If you’re fortunate enough to be helped by this young lady, she’s amazing and so delightful. My kids had pizza and they were completely silent until all the pizza was gone. I’ve walked by that location so many times and was really impressed with how it looks on the inside. You’ll like this place!
