⭐️ Fairmont/Oyster Bay Ghost Tour – My Review

Last night we took the Fairmont/Oyster Bay Ghost Tour in Deadwood, and I’m giving it a FULL ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

This tour was the perfect mix of history, humor, and just the right amount of “did you hear that?!”
We had an absolute blast — so many laughs, a few jumps, and even a couple of moments that made us all look at each other like… “okay wait, that wasn’t us.”

The Fairmont building itself is incredible to explore:
• The historic Turkish bath cistern from the 1890s
• The former brothel and saloon rooms
• Narrow hallways with original floors
• Creepy corners and untouched spaces still in restoration
• Recreated Old West scenes that bring Deadwood’s wild past to life

The guides do an amazing job blending real Deadwood history with the hauntings tied to the building’s past — from the women who worked here to the gamblers who never checked out. The stories were fascinating, chilling, and surprisingly heartfelt.

Whether you love the paranormal or just enjoy learning the gritty reality of Old West life, this tour is absolutely worth it.
Fun, memorable, educational, and spooky in the best way.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — We’d do it again in a heartbeat.

A&B was originally opened in Deadwood by one of the owners of the original A&B in Bismarck & Mandan, ND, where I grew up. We have been at the Deadwood location several times prior to the recent ownership change & the pizza was as FANTASTIC as it still is in ND.

We ate at the Deadwood location on 1-9-26, the pizzas have changed significantly, they appear to be on premaid crusts & the toppings were minimal to say the least. I recommend the ND locations & won’t be back to the Deadwood location.

Visited 11/2/25. Was so excited to share my previous experience here with friends who had never been. We grabbed shrimp, went to the bar to grab drinks to then play slots. While at the bar an employee passed by and said “make sure you’re playing slots if you’re gonna eat our food”. We had only been there max for 2 minutes before this encounter. We did play slots after grabbing our drinks but it was hard to want to spend more time or money after that. We understand that complimentary things is not a free for all. We had been bar hopping and playing at each place and was excited for Oyster Bay. The employee was a younger gal with long hair and talked with a sucker in her mouth, LOL. I’m not sure if she had been taught to say that to customers or not. Our bartender was super pleasant I will point out.

Went there specifically for the oyster shot yesterday, my friend never been there for one. Asked what was in it out of curiosity and bartender was rude and acted like she was being difficult and my friend crossed the line of asking if she could add tequila to it instead of it having beer. it was the end of the world and so offensive for my friend to ask that apparently. Not a big deal if it wasn’t possible, doesn’t hurt to ask but the way she was treated her and attitude was unnecessary.

Sun., Apr. 27th. Came to Deadwood to celebrate our birthdays (3 birthdays within a week) and went to the Fairmont for one of the “nightly ghost tours” and we wanted to pay early and take the tour at the time it was advertised. The bartender told us not to pay early and come back at 730 because she wasn’t sure if there would be a tour or not. We left and wandered around til around 7pm. We came back and decided to get something to eat. The food was good. The service from the bartender started to get kinda sucky. She started taking longer and longer to check on us, and my husband kept trying to get her attention to ask her about the ghost tour. Every time he raised his hand to get her attention, she saw him and turned around and walked the other way. We were after we came back that there WOULD be a tour, then after an hour of waiting, we were told that there would NOT be a tour. That would have been nice to know when we first got there instead of wasting our time. NOT impressed. The bartender needs to learn customer service. Also, the Fairmont needs to honor their advertisements. “nightly ghost tours”? More like “ghost tours whenever we feel like it”

I don’t really understand the decor here or the menu. The whole thing seems lost. Why is there a tiki bar inside but there is nothing tiki about this place otherwise. We only had the pizza, which was a great pizza for late night. We had a few oyster shooters which were okay but I had a hard time with the oysters which did not taste fresh at all. But they were huge. I didn’t feel comfortable ordering any other seafood, and the menu is so empty looking with no information about any of the dishes. It just looks like you sell plain chicken fingers and fries and “wings”. I was later informed by the bartender that you have like 5 sauces to choose from. Had I known that when looking at the menu I may have ordered some.
The bartender was great though. Very friendly lady. I would go back but only to drink beer and eat pizza. And maybe wings with mystery sauce.

If you have not been here lately…it is an absolute MUST!!!! Renovated and modern on the main floor but kept the nostalgia of the building and upstairs hotel! Great service, lovely staff, and the owner is so personable and welcomes you in like family. Kids are welcome, pizza available! Although I loved the nostalgia its the best I’ve seen it! I applaud you sir Oyster shooter available, if you haven’t tried, put on your bucket list!!

This is largely a bar + casino from what I could tell. Stopped in for a simple dinner, we ordered a pizza. Pizza was pretty good – definitely wayyy too expensive for what you get though. Service was pretty slow as well but for a busy night, only one bartender was handling everything so I can’t fault her for that (she was lovely despite the added wait times). Probably a better place for gambling and drinks than food (or maybe the seafood is better). For my intentions anyway it was a bit of a miss.

The oyster shooters are fantastic, I finally got my wife to try and oyster and she liked it so much, she ate 2!

The staff were great, the beer selection on tap is plentiful and the food service was quick and tasty.

Absolutely love this place! My one ritual whenever I go to Deadwood is to have an oyster shooter (and make everyone with me) at the Oyster Bay
