At Mary, we are a BYOB that celebrates the spirit of our town’s namesake, Mary Ambler, whose courage and compassion defined a community. Our intimate, candlelit tavern is a gathering place where local flavors and stories come together, honoring Ambler’s rich heritage with every dish. We are committed to sourcing from local farmers and artisans, creating a menu that is as authentic and close to home as the town we love.

My husband and I dined here this evening, great vibe, the atmosphere with low lights and blues music played in the background. The restaurant is BYOB.

My husband ordered the tostones with Mary Dip- he loved it , quite tasty and not greasy. I ordered the vegetable soup, rich and flavorful with a spicy peppery kick. The topping of ground pistachios warmed me, as it’s a cold ,windy evening.
Entrees:
We both ordered the cheese burgers which we could taste the excellent beef and well seasoned hand cut potato wedges.
Dessert:
We ordered the last slice of carrot cake. Quite delicious and decadent icing. This is the first weekend that the carrot cake is on the menu. I highly suggest Chef Rosenthal order more as we believe it’s a “keeper!”
Staff and chef/owner are very appreciative, and attentive to detail. We will return soon!

From the moment you walk into this gem in Ambler you are warmly welcomed by Jessica with a smile. We were sat at bar and had the treat of watching a well oiled culinary machine work their Gastro magic. Chef Chad came over to welcome us as well, being our first time at The Mary. The expertly executed menu delightfully changes monthly but from start to finish the experience was amazing. It’s a BYOB So please bring your favorite wine and the staff are more than happy to uncork and serve. Intimate, friendly, delicious and truly a wonderful experience! It’s on our list of keepers and surely we will be back again and again.

Without a doubt, the best food in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Chef Chad brings together the most unique, fresh flavors to create truly incredible meals. Every dish is creative, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The service is just as exceptional—attentive, welcoming, and phenomenal. Highly recommend!

I went here with my brother to celebrate my birthday and everything was phenomenal! The steak frites, the raw asparagus and citrus salad was amazing. They told us they were out of steak tartare and they surprised us with freshly cut steak tartare. The best part was the dessert and meeting the chef amazing person, I will be coming back soon during the fall.

Mary’s in Ambler is a gem. We had a large party for my partner’s birthday, and despite the small space, they were incredibly accommodating. The chef even checked in with us, which was such a nice touch.
Great variety of appetizers, solid vegetarian options, and their steak frites lived up to the hype. I got the CheeseBurger, which was massive and juicy, and honestly I’m still thinking about it. Bonus: BYOB. Highly recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Superb dining experience. The staff was friendly and relaxed. The meals are finely crafted, very flavorful, and fairly generous. The sound was a little loud due to the small size. A wonderful dinner.

Our group of 4 had a great dinner and experience this past weekend! Chef was at the door when we arrived (just by luck I think) and greeted us warmly. Hostess and all staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and provided amazing service. We got two apps – Poutine and goat cheese/beets – both excellent. Two of us had the steak, one had the swordfish and I had the cavatelli, which was outstanding. Only suggestion was the swordfish had (we think) a bit of nutmeg which for the three of us who tasted it, didn’t care for that particular spice on fish. And the finishing touch was the outstanding pumpkin cake/bread – absolutely phenomenal! Thanks Team Mary!

Tucked away in the heart of Ambler, Mary is the kind of restaurant that feels like a well-kept secret. Dimly lit with deep navy walls and elegant gold accents, the space is intimate yet inviting. The flickering candlelight and soft hum of jazz set the perfect mood for an evening that feels both relaxed and indulgent.
The star of the menu is undoubtedly the burger—a beautifully crafted masterpiece featuring perfectly cooked beef topped with simmered onions, tangy banana peppers, and the restaurant’s signature Mary sauce. The balance of flavors is spot-on, with just the right amount of richness and heat. Served alongside crispy, golden potato wedges, it’s comfort food elevated to something truly special.
For dessert, the warm Jewish Apple Cake with vanilla gelato is an absolute must. The cake is moist, spiced, and rich with chunks of apple, while the gelato melts into each bite, creating a perfect harmony of texture and temperature.
Owner and chef Chad Rosenthal is as much a part of the experience as the food itself. His passion for hospitality is evident—he makes rounds throughout the night, checking in on guests, sharing stories, and ensuring that everyone feels at home. It’s a rare and personal touch that makes Mary not just a great restaurant, but a memorable dining experience.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic date spot or a cozy escape for a great meal, Mary delivers on all fronts. It’s a place where time slows down, where the food warms you from the inside out, and where every detail—down to the last flickering candle—is just right.

The service by Jessie was great and the food was wonderful. We had the Baked Brie Pâte à Choux to start, which was a great autumn appetizer. I had the Steak Frites Au Poivre medium rare, which had an excellent texture and taste. We finished with the Hazelnut Financier, I would definitely get dessert here every time. 100% recommend and will be back
