Saw and IG of this ice cream spot and was eager to try! It was a nice night and it was crowded, but they have quick service. Prices reasonable. Friendly staff. Really wish they had the strawberry soft serve available, as that’s one of the main reasons I wanted to try. Several tables for seating. This location is at the back of a parking lot for a few stores – southern states, food lion, ace hardware and more. Plenty of parking available.

Classic ice cream! Great place to go with friends and family. They have good portion sizes for the price. A small is like a medium at some other places. There’s seating nearby and it’s also in a plaza with a grocery store and Ace Hardware. Would definitely recommend!

I love coming here with family and friends. Staff is incredibly patient and efficient even when things get crazy during rushes. Lots of seating (outdoors, no indoors) and wheelchair accessible. And, of course, their ice cream is amazing. I believe they mainly offer soft serve, not sure what their regular ice cream options are, if any. They also have Philly water ice, which is pretty good as well.

May 17, 2022 – If you live in Mt. Airy ( or Damascus) here’s a fun tradition from spring to fall . . . family & friends standing in line for the best SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM!
Started by owner Bill Harris in 1962. I remember in the 70’s cruising, as a newly licensed teenager driver, up to Damascus! Later in the 90’s moving to Mt. Airy, my wife & I would drive our young daughters to the new Jimmie Cone ! Yea!
Back then, Jimmie Cone offered hot dogs and other fast food delights on their menu. Seems the menu is slimmed down to ice cream choices:
Banana Splits
Milk Shakes
Soft Ice Cream in cups or cones
Floats
Flurries
Sundaes
Malts
Snowballs
Ice Cream Cakes
Fat Free available
Sugar Free available
I like the Community Board, with posted events happening in the area! There’s a Cruise Night each 1st & 3rd Saturday night in My. Airy . . . Mostly antique cars in perfect condition ! Owners sitting in their chairs, willing to share their “ stories” , usually with the car hood up, showing off their pride & joy to all !
My only concern is a “no frills” business model, that is at the end of a shopping mall parking lot, with No Bathrooms! I rate this a 4.6 . . . but I know it’s SPRING when Jimmie Cone opens ! Pack up your family and dog and head to Jimmie Cone for an ice cream twist with chocolate or rainbow sprinkles/Jimmie’s on top!
Note: Dan & Bonnie Leiter purchased Jimmie Cone in 1990, opened the Mt. Airy location in 1997 ( ?) Keep the Jimmie Cone Tradition going. . . Thank you !

If you’re a local, you don’t need this review to tell you how great this place is. To the people that are passing through or new to the area, know that this place is has everything ice cream related. Because of it’s popularity, there can be lines. However, the staff is pretty efficient, so the lines move quickly. There are places to sit, but if it’s crowded, just sit on or in your car. I’m pretty sure that they just started to accept cards as well as it use to be cash only. Enjoy!

Good ice cream most of the time. I happened to arrive close to the closing time and got a soft serve full of small pieces of something, “butter fat” as the manager said. They ignored me and didn’t wanted to take responsibility of the bad ice cream. She said that they are about to clean the machine later but she knew about the chunks in the machine and didn’t say anything beforehand.

We love Jimmie Cone, its our go to anytime we are anywhere near Mount Airy. Dont ask me to explain it, but the ice cream is just better than any other soft serve we have had, and they never skimp on sizes and jimmies.
