Have not been here in years and when I use to go, would always choose to sit on the Right side (as you enter) of this spacious restaurant. But last night we got a bit brave and chose to eat on the Left side (with strangers), at the large grill side tables. We had a wonderful dinner with friendly people and cannot wait to return!
Our chef was not as comical as a couple of the other grill side chefs but nonetheless he was quite enthusiastic and efficient. He cooked an incredible dinner for eight of us and no one complained.
I had the shrimp and it was superb. Steamed rice could have been fluffier but who orders steamed rice at these places? The fried rice was prepared with lots of butter and goodies.
Most ordered the steak and one ordered the chicken. A generous heap of grilled veggies on the side, choice of miso or onion soup, salad with ginger or choice of dressing, and your entree for a bit over $20+ bucks per person was quite worth a trip to this old established restaurant in the North Little Rock area.

Tihis place is great love to come here and see the action and fun of cooking my food. Always so friendly with sharp service. The food is always on spot mever changing. I did not know you could set at a table have the same food without the in person cook, i giess thats for more shy people, , i like the action. Do not recommend going here. They will add additional tips onto your total after you leave the restaurant. Regardless if you tipped or signed the receipt they will add their own tips. We ate there and the food was ok, it came time for the check and we left a tip. A few hours after we were gone I received a notification my transaction had been updated to a completely different amount that had more on it than I left. I called them and they denied it, asked to speak with a manager and they said they would look into it and I never heard anything back from them. It wasn’t much but it’s the fact that it was done without my permission. Not good business and I wouldn’t go back to eat here. Go support other hibachi businesses in the area.

This is what you get for $38 they initially forgot the miso soup, went back in and was given whatever this is. I paid for yum yum, but did not receive. Also paid the extra charge for fried rice but received steamed rice with soy sauce on it. Meat & vegetables burnt.

So in keeping with “trying new places”.. We decided to try out Kanpai this week for our newest adventure. First off of all the Hibachi style places around, this one has a much better atmosphere than others that I’ve been too. I am not sure if the cooktops are smaller, but you are closer to the action so to speak. If you are going to a Hibachi style dinner you are going for a show too, and Kanpai did not disappoint. Our chef for the night was Micheal, who said he has been doing this for over 30 years and you could tell his expertise was on point! Our server made sure we had everything we needed and never had to ask for anything. Now the food… the food was fantastic; my steak was cooked exactly the way that I asked, and the flavors were Spot On. So, if you are looking to gather up your friends for a great night out with some good food, great entertainment then you should skip the other Hibachi places around and check out Kanpai. Be sure to ask for Micheal as your chef and you will have a very pleasant and memorable dining experience.

Our first time visiting and was very impressed. Our server was so good, she checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Our chef, Michael, was so sweet and helpful. He told me which sauce would go best with the shrimp and I loved it. Will definitely be back!

I told them I had a shelfish allergy and needed my food to be cooked away from shellfish. I took my food home and had to stop halfway through because I started having an allergic reaction. Thankfully I had benadryl on hand to stop it. My husband also complained that the fried rice was bland which I have to agree. It didn’t have the egg incorporated like most fried/ hibachi rice. Sizes were smaller when compared to other hibachi places.

Beautiful restaurant horrible loud rap music. had teriyaki steak, waitresses said it was strip steak, no way tough looked like the shaved steak u get in the grocery store for 5 bucks good flavor but overpriced for what I got. Charged 350 extra for fried rice but waitresses said fried rice and I said sure, she didn’t mention any other options or the up charge. Business traveler so won’t come back here. The music alone was so off putting.
