I’ve been going to whites with my partner for a few years now. I usually go for their breakfast so I cant really review any other options. For the majority of the time ive been going there I would order the same exact thing. My family has had complaints about the taste and lack of flavor. I love their coffee, the waitress staff give great service and are very welcoming. As of recent, idk if they have different cooks, but their food quality and taste has not been consistent or good. The food hasn’t been tasting fresh and the food seems to be rushed when cooking and it definitely brings the quality down. I’m disappointed because this is my favorite and only diner I go to. The rolls haven’t been soft or fresh. They taste dry and old. Simple pancakes have been off too. I really hope they take my review into consideration and understand that over the years ive really enjoyed eating there but lately they’ve dropped the ball. They need to do a quality check on their ingredients and products. Also make sure their cooks are all on the same page on how to properly prep and cook these meals. Fast service is good but as a frequent customer I don’t mind waiting for food that is prepped, cooked properly and mindfully made.

White’s Diner on Boston Ave is a true Bridgeport institution. Serving the community since 1935, this place is woven into the fabric of the city. I have been coming here since I was a kid, and now I bring my own family.
Warm, friendly, and welcoming from the moment you walk in, with hands down the best breakfast in town. It is the kind of place where you can run into a neighbor, an old friend you have not seen in years, or even a celebrity like Al Pacino or the Governor.
White’s Diner is not just a meal, it is a tradition. If you want classic comfort food and real Bridgeport character, this is the spot.

We walked in and sat at a small table…realized it was to small and we moved. We had no problem getting our drinks, it was quick. Then we sat waiting over 10 min for a server to take our food order. She finally came but not to us…to the table next to us that came in well after us. When I said something, the server blamed us for moving our table (which we did within minutes of walking in so her excuse bears no truth to it…. SMH. Do your job right. And you will not have to worry about pissing folks off…. Food was good. Nothing fantastic but it was better we than the service. Also….Servers should not assume that white folks can’t understand Spanish….I heard a few nasty things said…SHAMEFUL

I found White’s Diner while looking for a local non chain place to eat before we left the area on a Sunday morning to return home. The diner had positive reviews so we decided to give it a try in support of local establishments.
It’s a small , quaint place located on a busy intersection and shopping plaza. The first challenge we encountered was finding a place to park, once I found a space we entered and didn’t have to wait to be seated, which was nice since we were anxious to get on the road for the long trip back home.
There was a bit of a wait from the time we ordered until the food arrived but it was worth it. The portions were large , served fresh and hot. I had to take the rest of my order in a to go box. I ordered blue berry pancakes, omelet with peppers and onions and a bowl of grits (I don’t often eat grits at unknown restaurants) each of the items were prepared to order and were very good.
The only negative to the experience is that we didn’t feel the waitstaff was attentive after we placed the order, not once did she come by to see if we were enjoying the food, or if we needed anything else i.e. napkins, more juice etc. Even when I asked for the to go container another waitress handed it to me.
I see a lot of the reviews complimenting the staff being bilingual and that’s a plus as many Spanish speaking patrons entered the establishment and we could hear the conversations as they were seated and exchanged pleasantries with the staff. We didn’t feel or receive the same type of welcome or exchange .
I recommend the diner for breakfast, however, more consideration should be given to make all customers feel welcomed and appreciated.

Probably the best diner in Bridgeport. You can seat yourself at any free booth and they are quick to do a cleanup. The prices are great and you pay for how good the food is. They bring the food out pretty quickly after ordering too. It also pays homage to old Bridgeport, which is great to see.
