We are an American style restaurant that specializes in fresh, in house ground hamburger for the best hamburgers you will eat. Many of our menu items are made fresh. We are not fast food but quality food from our breakfast to our hamburgers, finger steaks and prime rib. You will not leave hungry.

My husband’s truck broke down by Cougar Mountain Lodge. When we walked in to get out of the cold and figure out our next steps in a warm space, the manager gave us something warm to drink and was just so kind and welcoming. I truly appreciate her hospitality during a stressful time. She let us use the landline to call someone to pick us up. We ended up ordering food while we waited for our ride, and the fries, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks were delicious! If we had to get stranded anywhere, I’m glad it was next to Cougar Mountain Lodge.

We stopped here after our camping weekend. The food was quick and excellent. Some of the best fried food I’ve had in a long time. Everyone loved their dishes. We’ve been to Cougar Mountain Lodge over the decades. I never remember loving the food this much. Check it out!

Must have burger !! Stopped in here with a friend after some fishing nearby. Had the “Big Todd” burger and regular order of fries. Hands down, best dang burger I have had in a long time. Was so good, had to come back the next day with my wife. If you are looking for good food (in particular a hamburger), this is the spot. Super friendly service, plenty of parking right off highway 55. Would recommend and will return. Keep up the good work Cougar folks.

Super friendly people and a great burger. Drinking Coke out of a Kerr jar leaves a good taste in my mouth. You know what I’m talking about. A real burger leaves some juice on the basket and your fingers. This does not disappoint!

We ate both breakfast and dinner at the lodge. The food was very good, home type cooking. Service was excellent. The atmosphere was rustic and clean. Price was some what high $13 & up for most menu items. Rating the diner at a 5 .
We also stayed two nights at the lodge in room 3. That’s where I rated a two. The hardwood floors were very squeaky and not swept and there was a strong musty smell. There was thick layer of dust under the beds too.
I went to open the window for fresh air and there was no screen on the windows and there was a spider outside the window, and thick with cobwebs. In addition, the bathrooms are shared. That wouldn’t have been so bad if the rooms were cleaner and even just decorated.
I won’t stay there again, but I’ll most definitely be stopping by to eat. Friendly atmosphere

I would give zero stars if I could. The service is lousy. The management is worse. I blame the lack of leadership for the poor training of staff. Go for the food and stay for the abuse, it’s all they dish out. You’re lucky to get food in under an hour or if they didn’t drop it at the wrong table. They also swear at you if you ask where your order is. Overpriced. Underserved.

Nice place. The burger was a little dry but good quality beef. Soup was solid and the Huckleberry shake was excellent. Surprisingly good drip coffee. The atmosphere is great with a nice view to boot. It’s an interesting place considering it’s kind of in between major locations and it’s not a gas station, so they probably get passed up a lot (17 miles out from Cascade Idaho). But it’s obvious there was a lot of love put in to make this stop what it is.
Its got a bar, a restaurant and a small convenient store. If you’re on 55, it’s worth a stop.

We stopped in after camping and it was amazing. Its a small restaurant and convenience store, mom and pop feel. Everyone was very friendly. We got our food very quickly. Burgers were large and delicious! We also got fried zuchini which were incredible! We got bloody marys and they were good. The huckleberry milkshake was tasty, it does not have whole huckleberries but it is still delicious. Pricing was reasonable. They also have quite a bit of indoor seating that looked nice but we opted to sit out on the deck with views of the mountain and river. There was also seating in the grass as well at a picnic table. Lots of good options. I would highly recommend stopping for a meal or at least a shake on the way to and from the mountains! We definately will be back! There is also lots of parking for RVs and boats!

Great burger and cool waitress. Awesome lunch! Prime Rib was awesome for dinner. Cooked to a perfect medium. Green beans, mashed potatoes and homemade gravy were all good too. Room not so much. Never seen a bunk bed in a motel room before… And no TV. Restaurant was terrific though. 5 stars for it and 3 for the room.

12 of us invaded the lodge for a weekend and had a blast! AMAZING food, river access, a little store for anything we forgot – this place has it all! It’s a rustic lodge with so much character. The rooms were clean and staff was wonderful! We will definitely be visiting again.
