Everything about this place is wonderful. Seated quickly, drinks were out quickly. Appetizers and meal were made to perfection. Spice levels 1-5. One is perfect for me. Five stars.

I will preface by saying I came for lunch the day they first advertised their fluffy donuts. There was a surprisingly massive line so I skipped the donuts though they offered mini strawberry donuts which I got. I expected them to be a smaller version of the donuts from their post (see attached pictures) but they were actually just small pieces of fried dough with sugar coating with a container of strawberry sauce on the side rather than a filled donut. This was not explained (nor the cost which was a bit much for the small portion, I think $5 or $7).

I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu extra spicy. The flavor was very good and portion large though it was not spicy at all. I asked if they had extra hot sauce or chilis and was given sriracha.

Service was very slow. It took about 15 minutes to get seated even though I was the only one dining in. The server never checked up on me and was hard to flag down. The food was prepared quickly which was a plus.

I still gave Nara Thai 4 stars because I am assuming some of my negative experience was due to them being overwhelmed by an unexpected crowd of people wanting their donuts. Hopefully it’d be better if it was a non-donut day (though the Facebook post made the donuts look incredible).

Ordered the Drunken Ma Ramen and it had a delicious flavor but not many vegetables, chicken or egg… basically noodles. Egg rolls were tasty too. Will definitely try this place again since our servers were awesome.

The food here is amazing, but I am really disappointed with my first pickup order was incredibly disappointing.

My husband and I chose to do takeout for our anniversary. Toast advertised a 60 minute wait. I ordered food at 5:40pm but after they processed the order I got a pickup time of 7:30. That was too long for us to wait, but there was no way for us to contact the restaurant to cancel the order. The phones were set to an automatic message and they weren’t answering any messaging, including the chat bot on their website that said a human usually responds within a couple minutes.

Having spent a decent amount to try some new dishes, we decided to have a snack and wait the nearly two hours. We went over just before the kid’s bed time, arrived a few minutes after 7:30, but only part of our order had been made. We all waited another 15 minutes while they made the rest of the order.

Finally getting to eat at about 8pm, half of the food was had obviously been sitting there for a while, and the spice level on our favorite curry was a level 3 instead of a level 1.

We’ve been going to Nara since they opened, but we need to take a break after this experience. If they aren’t staffed or prepared for online orders then they really shouldn’t offer them.

Absolutely love this place! The staff and food is beyond amazing. Worth the wait on busy nights. Large portions. Crab rangoon is worth those extra 5lbs you’ll gain

By the looks of the other reviews, it looks like the owners read these reviews so if I could, I would like to help them with the dish I ate there that could use some adjustments. Hopefully this will help improve the dishes. I had the drunken noodles and spring rolls and Thai tea. So for the good. The Thai tea was good. The spring roll was good in portion but could have been wrapped a bit tighter but that’s nit-picking on my side. The peanut sauce is too much of a paste and should be more of a sauce but the taste was good. Now with the places where it could use some improvements … The drunken noodles, where do I start, it was a bit under cooked. It was too chewy. It should be a lot softer. The portion was a lot. That dish could have easily fed 2 people. The carrots were too clumpy and the vegetables were a bit lite. The flavor of the sauce was good but it was just a bit too under cooked. I’ve had this dish in various Thai restaurants across our great nation but this is the one thing that makes it hard to finish. I almost never leave uneaten food but I couldn’t finish it because of the under cooked noodles. Please take my review with a grain of salt. Lots of people send to have like the food served here, and I only had one dish here. The service was great, the atmosphere was also good also. Sorry for the long review.

Unfortunately, this was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. I ordered the pad see ew and the noodles were barely cooked. The stuck together in clumps which is amazing given the amount of oil in the dish. While the sauce for this dish is typically a little sweet, this sauce was overly sweet and it tasted almost like maple syrup. The servers were nice but inattentive. I’m sure there must be better Thai places in Cedar Rapids. It honestly wouldn’t take much to beat NaRa.

I had the pad see yew. As background, I came from Chicago so i apologize for comparing. However, pad see yew was what got me hooked on Thai food. I barely ate my food because the noodles were very elastic and literally almost hit me in the face. I don’t think your noodles are home made. Also you need to add more beef. There’s barely meat in there…and vegetables esp the cabbage. Seasoning was too sweet. You guys should try to make it to the Chicago area sometime and eat at one of the Naperville Thai restaurants (suggestion to up your food so it’s worth the price for the customers).
