⚓ Great drinks, better company, best views. Located right on the Portage Canal, Small Craft was created as a gathering place for locals and adventurers alike. Inspired by the Keweenaw’s waterfront history, we set out to build a bar where community, craft drinks, and great company come together. We serve craft cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits, with an emphasis on quality drinks in a relaxed setting. Our space offers cozy indoor seating, stunning waterfront views, and a welcoming atmosphere. Coming this summer: our outdoor beer garden, perfect for warm-weather gatherings. Whether you’re fresh off the trails, the water, or just looking for a place to unwind, Small Craft is where good drinks and good company meet.

There’s something really special about seeing a place come into its own — and Small Craft feels like exactly the kind of spot this beautiful waterfront location in Hancock was always meant to be. I used to work in this building years ago, and it’s incredible to see it now, transformed into such a warm, inviting gathering place right on the canal.
On a sunny afternoon, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. Whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet solo moment, it’s the perfect place to slow down and soak up the best of the Keweenaw.
The Hugo Spritz was absolute perfection — crisp, floral, and just the right amount of sparkle. The cocktail menu is full of fresh, creative options — and I love that they also offer non-alcoholic drinks, making it a great spot for sober and sober-curious folks to enjoy something special, too.
The atmosphere is relaxed, stylish, and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful — you can tell they care about building something meaningful here.
If you’re in the Keweenaw, trust me: this is where you want to be. ✨
The drink selection is broad, I can come in and grab a craft IPA, and my SO can get a cocktail, makes us both happy!
I’m also a big fan of the location. If I had a complaint it would be that it’s too cold outside so I can really only soak in the sunshine and views for a limited time before I get cold and have to go back inside. I can’t wait to enjoy this spot in the summer!
Something to note, they don’t offer food, but they seem to typically have a food truck on site so it’s a non-issue.
