One of the most underrated restaurant. We’ve been there at least 50 times, and it has never disappointed us. Every dish is consistently on point and freshly made, which is something I can’t say about many other Indian restaurants in the area. The lunch special is an absolute delight, especially the dal, which tastes just like the one your mom would make at home. The staff is incredibly accommodating and always ensure your requests are met. Highly recommended!

I love the thali at dinner time. It’s filling and a very good price at $22 if paying by cash. The 2 ladies at the front are friendly, quick, and nice too.

Bad experience overall.
The tandoori chicken leg piece was burnt, extremely dry, and completely tasteless. The tandoori fish was equally disappointing,
there were very few pieces, and it lacked any flavor. When we shared this feedback, the lady at the counter responded arrogantly with just “thanks for your feedback,” without any concern or effort to address the issue. Definitely not the quality or service we expected.

Mumbai Chowk was suggested by a friend and i was in the area so stopped by this place finally with my two kids. I ordered wada pav, pani puri, pav bhaji and chicken frankie. Pani puri was amazing and way better than other places i have eaten it. Definitely will come back to this place and will try out other stuff. Homemade lemon lime soda was so refreshing. Overall all the items i have ordered were good.

We’ve been loyal customers of Mumbai Chowk for the past five years, and it remains one of the few restaurants that has never let us down. The food is consistently outstanding—rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly crafted with care. What truly sets this place apart is Abdul, the owner, whose passion for food and genuine dedication to his guests shines through in every dish.
The Balti Paneer is a personal favorite—perfectly spiced, incredibly satisfying, and always cooked to perfection.
Mumbai Chowk is a rare gem. Whether you’re a longtime lover of Indian cuisine or new to it, this is a spot you absolutely must try. Highly, highly recommended.

When to this place after Ganpati celebration in fremont, It was super crowded, but they handled the crowd well. First time i had curries which had a distinct taste, not like most of the places where all the curries taste the same. The owner was super friendly and their paneer jaipuri and vada pav were awesome. Unfortunately forgot to take pictures.
Edit1: the next time i visited the place i dint like it as much, this time i tried malvani chicken, i felt the taste was no where near to malvani taste. The mutton sukha was ok ok. Though the rabdi kulfi was good.

Based on a recommendation, tried out this hidden spot. We got there around 8 pm on a Sat evening and the place was packed. It’s a first come first serve place with no formal waiting system. Tables turn over fairly fast so we didn’t have to wait too long. It seems like a family run place and service was fair.
Wifey is a chaat fan so we decided to order a few items from the Khau Gali and Starter list versus trying more North Indian dishes. We got Aloo paratha (for kids), dahi puri, chicken seekh kabob, cheese pav bhaji (they did not use Amul), egg bhurji pav, paneer tikka biryani, and Kashmiri soda ($5, not worth the price imo). The food overall did not disappoint. Pav bhaji had good flavor and so did the tikka biryani. Aloo paratha was pretty good as well. Next time we’ll ask for things to be more spicy. Egg bhurji was okay. We’ll definitely be back again if we are in the area.

Ordered the paneer tikka combo. Comes with naan, daal, rice and sweet. Found it to be reasonably priced and good in taste.

My family has been eating here consistently for the last 2 years and the food, service, and ambience are always exceptional. We have tried both the Fremont and Newark locations and the quality of the food and service is consistently exceptional at either location. I particularly enjoy the seafood dishes, but having tried almost everything on the menu, I can attest that all the dishes are delicious. Seriously-it’s all good! The owner is very personable and always comes out to check on the food and see if we need anything. He’ll stay and chat-making for a very welcoming and friendly environment. I feel like family when I dine at Mumbai Chowk!

Ambience was ok. Some items were pricey for the quality of good delivered. Chaat was good. I ordered a paneer sabzi and it was runny. Not worth the price mentioned. They serve both veg and non veg. Service was good and fast on a weekday that I visited. They had meeta pan which was good too. Chapathi was disappointing. It looked and tasted like it was made from ragi flour and not the regular atta. That was the most disappointing thing other than the runny paneer sabzi. And yes there was a 15% service charge already added to the bill leaving the customer an option to choose how much to tip.I personally wouldn’t prefer visiting again.
