Used to come here every week for the fish and chips. Came back today since being away. Food and service are always consistent. Food is served quickly and hot. Good flavors. Atmosphere is relaxed and styled like an older diner experience. Definitely worth the visit and the prices are more than fair.

Ive been ordering from golden for a long time. I had stopped because I got a peice of mostly batter a while ago. Im alone tonight and ordered uber eats and the food was hot and fresh.. nice size halibut and they gave me extra tartar when asked. Thanks for saving the night.

My wife and I are long time customers , we don’t go every week but we do go often . It’s not the friendliest place but usually the fish and chips are good .
A few years ago I mentioned this place to my brother and his wife. They went and tried it and liked it . They liked it so much they were going every week sometimes twice .
A few weeks ago they got a bad order of fish and chips that they couldn’t eat . The next day my brother went back and complained . The man who works there apologized and said his next meal would be free .
Last week my brother returned for his free meal . When he got it home he discovered one piece of fish was hard and dry and he couldn’t eat it . He said that’s it for him , he won’t be returning .
My wife and I have also had a few times where it wasn’t quite up to par . Reading the reviews here I notice the same type of complaint from a few others .
I know times are tough just now , and they are tough for everyone . But the practice of reheating old food or whatever they are doing should be discontinued . I see in the comments the owner always says to call and they will make it right . People are ordering this for their dinner and when they get it home they can’t eat it . The dinner is ruined .
The owner is putting profit over quality and customer satisfaction . For the sake of a few dollars he is willing to lose a faithful customer . I hope he reads this and thinks about it . Usually it’s a great little fish and chips place , but the bad meals are ruining it .

Went here the other day for dinner, had the haddock and chips with gravy. The fish was very tasty and battered excellent it wasn’t greasy, it was light, and crispy the fish was very tender, and went perfect with the homemade tartar sauce. The fries were great, and the gravy perfect! The atmosphere in the restaurant was family friendly, nice and quiet, and quaint had an old diner feeling to it. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about their menu. I’d recommend this establishment of your a fan of great fish & chips!

Great price for the tuesday-wednesday deal. You get great portions and fresh food. The fish and chips isn’t overly too fishy it’s great! Definitely recommend this place for dine-in experience and even take out!!

Ordered take out and was running behind. We were pleased to see that while our order was ready, they wait to box the order to keep it crispy as possible. We ordered the Alaskan white fish and chips and gravy and it’s quite reasonable in price.
Service was friendly and packed up our order in no time! Looking forward to our next visit!

Me and my husband have been coming to this restaurant for the past two years. The price for fish on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is fair but the problem is is that the fish is always cold not hot cold if it’s not cold it’s mushy very disappointed in this fish and chip the third time considering there’s only two up on the mountain. This is the third time that we’ve been disappointed with the food that we ordered Again never coming here again very very poor and the owner is very rude and ignorant. Very rude and the waitress just threw our plate on the table. No apologies for the cold food. No nothing very very poor service.. drink water

Best F&C in Hamilton area! Had haddock and Chips, which were not at all oily or greasy. Generous servings were plenty to get us through lunch and dinner. Great service, and cleanliness. Only negative: smaller tables for 2 or 4 max. Will be back.
