Our reservation was right on time and we were seated promptly. Our server was amazing. We ordered our steaks medium
well. Mine was more like medium rare and my wife’s was almost rare. We ate them anyway because it takes so long when you send them back and they were busy. They were edible. It seems a lot of cooks in Knoxville truly do not know how to cook a steak medium well. Overall it was good, but it would be nice to have our steaks cooked correctly.

Great variety on the menu. And reasonably priced for such a great atmosphere.
The service was awesome. Hard not to notice that the waitresses were so professional looking. None of them were tatted up and with piercings on every part of their body (and yes, that matters!).
Would definitely go back again!

This was our third time visiting Calhoun’s and most likely our last. My husband and I both ordered the ribs (since that’s what hey are known for) we were very surprised that the ribs were a bit on the tough side, (not the fall of the bone like our previous visits) and very dry, as if they had sat out for some time then re-heated. The French fries were hot and fresh. My favorite part of the meal….the tablespoon of Cole slaw they served with it. Their sweet tea was good, the view enjoyable and our server was outstanding. Like I said we won’t be back.

This place was fine. You can’t make a reservation for 7 online, so we made a reservation for 6 and just asked to pull up an extra chair to the table due to the website reservations. The host didn’t really seem to care, but the chick getting the menus and seating acted like we were an inconvenience. With an attitude she was like “alright then. you’re gonna be cramped at the table because the table set aside for you was for 6 people.” Okay?? I know?? We expected this. And it wasn’t even cramped when we sat down. It was literally fine.
Our waitress was not attentive enough. We had empty glasses for a while, quite a few times. We also had to wait a while for our check.
The food was fine. It wasn’t anything extraordinary. I got the lemon chicken plate. For the money, it should’ve came with another side. Almost nowhere serves you a meat with one side anymore. It’s almost always a meat and two sides, but not here. Also my baked potato was so dry and kinda disappointing. They could at least make presentation look like you’re getting your moneys worth. The plate looked kinda bare.
I probably won’t be back here, mainly because I feel like I can get more food and better service with my money.
The bread basket was good though. That was the main highlight.

Really love Calhouns, especially this location. Have eaten here several times and always enjoy it. The view on the river makes it worth the visit. Food was good, but it normally had a better taste. On this visit, the food seemed slightly over cooked and our waitress was not the friendliest one we have ever had. But, overall it was a good visit.

Came in on a game day and only had to wait a short time, was seated and ordered our food and it arrived promptly! Got some draft beers and they were great, food was even better. Definitely recommend.

We go to Calhoun’s frequently when we’re in Knoxville. The atmosphere, location, views, deck, service and food are awesome! Game day atmosphere is awesome but you better get there early.

Calhoun’s On The River is our favorite place to go to near Neyland Stadium and Downtown Knoxville.
Staff is friendly and the food is good for the price, can’t beat the view.
I usually order a brisket sandwich and a glass of their beer. The biscuits are great, be sure to butter it up with some honey (they usually have a generic bottle stashed nearby)!
I’d estimate that on average it’s relatively easy to keep the total under $30 a person, for food and a beverage.

We arrived a few minutes before opening but let us in to get out of the weather. They sat us by the window with a beautiful view of the river. I highly recommend the hickey smoked prime rib sandwich. Never put it down. Would order again.

Well, my first visit to Knoxville. They asked outside or inside. I said outside. 30 minutes wait which is fine. When I have a choice, it’s always outside for me! Finally got seated, then told that the outdoor menu is different then indoor menu and it’s 2 different kitchens, and 2 different menus. Mind you, I had previously reviewed and studied the entire menu, that they did not offer outside. It is not clear that these are 2 separate restaurants. So we went with it. I lived without the menu I wanted (goodbye fried green tomatoes and a few other things). Got the half-rack ribs and they were delicious. The boy got the usual cheeseburger, so he was happy. Lol. The inside is more elegant with a totally different vibe. I loved it. Wish we had been told it was basically a bar menu outside. We left full and satisfied, but really weird experience. The hostess should make it clear that a smaller menu is offered outside and it’s a separate restaurant!!!! I always do my research but I missed this. If I had known, I would choose inside! Its so classy inside with a beautiful view.
