I had no idea this was here! The lady was so sweet and the baked goods were absolutely stunning. I was shocked they had a decent selection an hour before closing. My family tried four different items and they were all delicious. You could tell that whomever was making these treats, it was a passion. Definitely highly recommend!

Wonderful Asian Bakery in Amherst. The chiffon and roll cakes were perfectly done with the right amount of sweetness (that coveted Chinese “not too sweet”). We gpt the matcha roll slice and dark chocolate chiffon slice. The flavors for both were well balanced and good quality. The lemon tart was nice and tart with a delicious cookie crust. They also take whole cake orders with 2 days notice. Will be going back to try more!

Location: Downtown. Close to UMass. Really convenient place.
Service: the woman there is really sweet and nice. She explains everything about her products with a smile. Also, you can ask for things out of the menu. I bet she can do anything and everything she wants. She’s a skillful worker!
Food: What to say? A gust of sweet fresh air! We need places like this, that dare to offer new products, flavors, textures… Moreover, the pastries in here are not sweet to the point of fearing cavities (something that worries me about regular/ standard US made sweets). Also, I do love taro and pasteis de nata, strongly recommend them! The matcha cake was soft andtender as a piece of heaven.

This place is home to amazing pastries that you won’t find just anywhere! The cakes are perfectly balanced and not excessively sweet, making them a treat for everyone. The owner is absolutely delightful and truly passionate about baking—it’s heartwarming to see the love and effort she pours into every creation. You can really taste the care in her baked goods!

Lovely new bakery in Amherst Center. I would describe the pastries as delicate. On the airy side; not overpowering or rich
Chocolate Cream puff and Lemon tart were our favorites. You could tell everything was made with care and concentration. One of the layer cakes was like nothing I had eaten before, and I feel it’s rare to have experiences like that with food. I had to stop and think about what I was tasting and how it had been crafted.
I wasn’t sure what one of the pastries might taste like, and the sweet owner gave it to us on the house as we were leaving. The cannelé is a must try!

Definitely the top bakery in Amherst! I ordered a taro birthday cake here (even though it wasn’t on the menu. I casually mentioned to my friend that I wanted taro flavor, and Yali (the owner) overheard and said, “I can make it for you if you want!” That cake seriously made my day. It was incredibly delicious—the cream was high quality, and the cake itself was smooth and melt-in-your-mouth.
Since then my friends and I have become regulars. We’ve tried the puffs, crepe cakes, red velvet cake… so many types of desserts, and every single one has been amazing. (Highly recommend the puffs!)
Yali is so kind and truly passionate about baking. Love this place so much!

I’m so happy that a high quality Asian patisserie opened in downtown Amherst. The owner bakes everything from scratch in small batches so there are many options to choose from and things are fresh. I can tell that they use high quality ingredients from the taste of the cream for the chiffon cake.
Update: buttercup is good at handling pre-orders. All the cakes and pastries were fresh and ready in time for pick up! And they were big hits for my guests.
My favorites are: strawberry chiffon cake, chocolate cream puff, chocolate Swiss roll, and cannele

My favorite was their chocolate cake and layered chocolate cake, which had a soft, spongy texture and half the sweetness of traditional bakery treats.
Flaky egg tart is another must-try while you are in the Amherst area.
All their bake goods are lower sugar than the average Asian bakery which it’s great.

Buttercup Craft Bakery is a lttle hole in the wall bakery in the center of Amherst next to Bruegger’s Bagels. It’s a cute and quaint little bakery and every item looks delicious! I tried the Chiffon in chocolate and strawberry. Both were excellent, very light, fluffy with the right amount of sweet without overwhelming the palate…very satisfying!!!
