Peking Duck House is a renowned Chinese restaurant celebrated for its authentic Beijing-style cuisine, especially its signature Peking Duck—crispy-skinned, tender, and carved tableside. Established in New York City, it has become a go-to destination for both locals and tourists seeking an elegant yet traditional Chinese dining experience. The menu features a wide selection of classic dishes crafted with high-quality ingredients, attentive service, and refined presentation, offering a true taste of Northern Chinese culinary heritage.
Its namesake, carved tableside with fanfare, is the specialty of this Chinese restaurant.

I went here 12/13, and won’t go back. I am sick of the rude manager, there since around 2002 he said. He doesn’t smile and acts like he despises people.
I went here in December 1989 and once every couple of years until 2011, and maybe twice since. I always liked their Peking Duck but preferred it at a place on 2nd around 89th (no longer there).
This time, I asked to keep the duck carcus at the table, to see if there was more meat on it, and found a very little on the wings, but none anywhere else. They truly do get it all off for you in the medallions. Online I read the neck was good, so I tried to eat it, but it was all cartilage.
The Bean Curd Home Style wasn’t special.
I also don’t like that their recommended tip percentages are calculated on the after-tax portion, and, that the men’s bathroom is small and the door is always open.
One can get crispy duck skin, meat, and that sweet duck sauce anywhere nowadays, and I’ll go elsewhere.

Avoid this place. You are not getting Beijing duck here. What you get is 山东卷饼/burrito. see how big crepe is. The duck tastes horrible. And they serve fortune cookies at the end. It is definitely not an authentic Chinese restaurant.

Went here tonight for a friend’s bday. Masterclass in Peking duck. It was beautifully cut and served. Everyone loved it. The other dishes are also excellent. Probably the best Chinese food in midtown

We came here for lunch with a friend and ordered chicken with broccoli along with a few other dishes, everything was really good. They also brought out a complimentary cabbage salad, which we loved so much we asked for more. The waiter, an older gentleman, was incredibly friendly and happy to bring us another serving. and they also had tea on the house! those little things mean alot ! The whole place has that old school, classic restaurant feel. Highly recommend.- we were the 2 blond ladies

We LOVED our experience and highly recommend. We were blown away with the most amazing Chinese meal we’ve ever experienced. First, the wine we picked was well priced at $40/bottle and awesome—but that’s not the star of the show, obviously… the Peking duck was insane. Wow!! It was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We also ordered hot and sour soup, spring rolls, beef/broccoli, and garlic shrimp. Every dish was wonderful. Outstanding portion sizes and flavor and fresh ingredients. The service was top notch as they carved our duck table side and hand rolled our duck pancakes! Everybody demonstrated pride in their work—you could tell that they care that you enjoy your experience and that they love what they do. I called four people from the table and told them we have to go here. Five stars! Can’t wait to go back!

Came here for a work dinner, as it seems many people do, as we were surrounded by other white-collar types in large groups. Our team’s admin booked one of the banquet pre-set menus, which included:
Appetizers:
– Lute Shaped Prawns: Overcooked and chewy
– Fried Pork Dumplings: Meh
– Seafood Basket: Tasty and crispy
Soup:
– Seafood Sizzling Rice Soup: Bland with little seafood
Entrees:
– Filet Mignon with Black Pepper: The only decent entree of the lot
– Lobster with Hot Spicy Sauce: It wasn’t spicy, it was ginger-scallion. And again, overcooked
– Grand Marnier Prawns: Fried and drowning in mayo. Ugh!
– Chinese Broccoli with Black Mushroom: Okay, but forgettable
– Scallops: Bland
– Yang Chow Fried Rice: Also bland
Dessert:
– Fried Banana with Ice-Cream: This needed a good drizzle of chocolate sauce and more ice-cream to make it really pop
I saved the worst for last. The Peking Duck, which of course was the whole reason we were there, was a laughably tiny little piece of fowl. Unlike decent Peking duck restaurants, PDH cuts and wraps the duck for you instead of letting you do it yourself. Thus, I was given a scallion-filled wrap that I would never have eaten, and had to dis-robe it to remove that filth. Because our duck was so tiny (and we apparently only got one), we only received one wrap each, containing the tiniest pieces of meat I’ve ever seen. There was no additional platter with remaining duck pieces for us to have seconds–nothing. What an absolute rip-off.
In sum, glad I didn’t pay for dinner here. No one should be recommending this place for Peking duck to anyone except maybe terrible bosses, meddling mothers-in-law or mortal enemies.

I enjoy sampling different Peking ducks around the city and so far Peking Duck House has the best. The staff were kind and helpful, atmosphere was great, and the complimentary tea was a very nice touch. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and an incredible Peking duck under $100

As someone who has eaten peking duck a lot it was honestly not that great. The peking duck wrap was basically tortilla wrap (it was wayy too thick & tasted super bready). The duck itself was also not that great and too soggy. The skin wasn’t crisp at all and honestly very disappointing. The set up seemed very westernized (for lack of better terms) and didn’t have traditional peking duck setup / taste. The duck soup was also very mediocre(at best). Was quite disappointed with everything to be honest. Given the fact that it’s called Peking Duck House I would expect them to have better duck and for them to specialize in it although it was super disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend nor return. Only redeeming quality is that service is ok.

My family has been coming here for years and the food is always great, staff is friendly, nice dining experience. We love the duck. They carved the entire thing up and we got 10 well filled wraps. The lowkey r*c*sm in this review section is pretty disappointing

My friends and I went to Peking Duck House as a group of 13. To summarize, the overall food here isn’t authentic Chinese food. The duck is overly greasy, and the portion is very low for how much you pay (88 + tax for a plate). The service is bottom of the barrel. The server was at our table three times the entire dinner. Once to get our order, once to serve food, and once to pick up the check. I had to head outside to get drinks and get our tab.
