This place gives mom and pop vibes and has the best food! The bbq shortribs, and special fried rice are our go to dishes. But everything is always so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We’ve had their pork chops, chicken, and vegetables, and everything we’ve ordered has been amazing. The service is kind, and so chill, and the food comes out fast. We keep coming back because it’s that good. An absolute must try!

Good comfort food place to get cooked veggie! I enjoyed the egg drop soup a lot. The garlic bok choy was good, although it was cut to too small pieces. The wonton soup and broccoli with scechuan sauce was ok.

Later lunch bit we both enjoyed clean plate club. The CHAR SUI was excellent above my last three tries at other restaurants. I would recommend this everytime. I paired it with Chicken Katsu and fried rice. This was a great find and I enjoyed this meal.

Service was superb!! Our server was amazing: brought food out blazing hot and freshly made, water glasses were always topped off and wait for food was reasonable. Now to the food. Lots of very flavorful good food. Price is very good for quantity and quality of food. Overall yes I’d eat here again and bonus. As we sat there we saw an older lady come to pick up a to go order and the servers carried everything out for her, now that’s service!

I really enjoyed the food here – so tasty and generous portions. Also, very reasonably priced. A sign was that the place was filled with locals for dinner i.e not a tourist trap. I had to come back again before heading to the airport.

Garden Island Barbecue is a true local favorite — great Chinese food, generous portions, fair prices, and always friendly service. It’s casual and no-frills, but fast, welcoming, and consistently good, making it an easy choice over chain restaurants like Panda Express.
The fried rice dishes are especially good. The Special Fried Rice is loaded with shrimp, chicken, and pork char siu and never disappoints. Bonus: convenient parking in the back — just turn in off Hardy Street next to the War Memorial Convention Hall.

Got chicken and curry and I got like 6-7 cubes of chicken that were why you’d expect in a frozen dinner, everything was bland. Family got shrimp chow mein and a bbq sandwich with fires. Chow mein was bland besides the shrimp that wasn’t seasoned. Just tasted like frozen shrimp which was the best part according to him. Bbq sandwich came with tomato’s and lettuce for some reason, brother took a bite and said it would be fine but there was something in there that ruined it all. Overall I would avoid this place or maybe go with other options but based on what I had that would be a hard no.

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the teriyaki steak which was great and the fried Chicken combo meal with kimchi and rice. It was very good

Apparently, it is the best Chinese food in Kauai. It wasn’t hard to believe. We kept it simple. Only ordered noodles and an appetizer. The food was decent, and the staff were friendly and approachable. Very resonable price. I will return again with a bigger appetite.
