Reviews
Ordered their most expensive shared plate – whole barramundi fried with apple salad.
The dish came out on a single plate with 2 forks (no knives). Waitress disappeared very quickly.
The fish was seriously over-fried.
Attempted to separate the fish meat from fish frame with a fork and was left with a very tiny portion of meat and large amount of overly fried bones, head, and skin.
Definitely not what I’d expect for a “shared plate”.
I returned the dish and requested a simple nasi goreng off the shared menu instead. Received no apologies from the staff, instead they were quite rude about it.
Nasi goreng was served with a pile of prawn crackers on the plate – see photo after eating less than half of the nasi goreng. I took this as an insult from the chef. The dish wasn’t that great either.
Wife ordered a margarita which was well below average.
The beer on tap wasn’t too bad.
Pretty disappointing experience overall.
The young girls providing service need some training.
I won’t comment on the chefs skills.
From the moment we arrived, the stairwell leading up to the restaurant was in need of a thorough clean, which didn’t create a great first impression. After checking in at the top of the stairs, we were simply pointed toward our table rather than being shown to it, there were no other patrons waiting to be seated, early booking, not many there.
There was a stack of plates sitting on every table, and every single plate on ours was visibly dirty. We ended up going to another table to find a cleaner stack ourselves. The bottle of chilli sauce sitting on the table had dried, caked-on clumps all around the neck & cap, which was quite off-putting, and the cutlery basket needed attention as there were only two sets of chopsticks for a table of six.
The dinner menu as shown on their website had items that were not on their current menu, and we were told the menu online hasn’t been updated in over 12 months. It would be helpful if this was kept current to avoid confusion and disappointment.
Half of the dishes were tasty enough, however, the coconut rice was mush, the prawn crackers served with the fried rice were old, soft and inedible, and the Massaman beef was quite tough.
The ladies’ bathroom was in an unacceptable state — feminine hygiene wrapping about, used paper towels scattered around the hand basins, and the bin full and overflowing onto the floor. It really doesn’t take much for a staff member to pop in occasionally to check that the bathroom is clean and presentable, especially in a restaurant that is so highly recommended. Regular checks throughout the night would make a significant difference to the overall experience.
To add to this, there was also a 30% surcharge applied for a Sunday night.
Overall, while some of the food was enjoyable, the cleanliness and overall presentation of the venue really let the experience down, especially given it was for a special occasion.
We had the chicken wings with a sticky sauce, which we enjoyed and rice paper roll with prawn. The dipping sauce was delicious!! For mains we had the Prawn Curry with white rice. Really tasty and not over spiced.
Friendly staff and great atmosphere
