We came here for one of our son’s birthday dinner. It’s his favorite restaurant and our first time.

I was very impressed when I walked in and saw an upscale Mexican experience inside.

The service is five star . Our server was spot on all night but never interrupting the dinner experience. We started with the queso and chips which was amazing. Truly a great blend of cheese and spices.

I had the salmon and mostly liked it. What turned out to be a common theme was the temperature all of our entrees were served. LUKE WARM. It really made a difference in the taste and dinner for me. Otherwise, that salmon would have been amazing. My wife and son both had the chicken/beef fajitas. Same issue. LUKE WARM. Every restaurant I’ve been to serves the fajitas on a steaming hot metal plate. It was a metal plate but just barely warm and their dinner was cold within 5 minutes of sitting on the table.

I was served and charged for elote that I never ordered. However, it was soooo good! Then really the last act truly surprised me. We mentioned in the online reservation we were celebrating birthday. They brought out a birthday flan with a candle….then charged us. We didn’t order it and I’ve never had a restaurant charge for something like this. Especially a $200 meal with drinks, appetizers and entrees for four.

I’m being generous with four but it was that good. Hope tonight was just an off night for room temperature meals.

Making our first visit to Mexican Sugar, I am very confident it will not be our last! We sampled the margarita flight, I ordered the steak and lobster fajitas and my wife had the lump crab enchiladas! The food is nothing short of fantastic!!!

Adding to our review upon our second visit!

From the moment we walked in, Josiah and Stephan made us feel right at home. Their warm service and genuine hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The margaritas were outstanding—perfectly balanced and full of flavor. The beef filet and lobster fajitas were absolutely incredible. Every dish we tried was top-notch and part of the perfect meal. We’ll definitely be back!

Mexican Sugar – Addison, TX

Beautiful new spot in Addison from the same group that operates Ida Claire. The place just opened two weeks ago and it already feels dialed in. The patio is lively, the interior is warm and stylish, and the lighting gives it a relaxed upscale vibe.

We started with chips and salsa – both excellent. The salsa had a deep, authentic flavor and the chips came out warm. The guacamole was incredibly fresh and creamy. I ordered the skirt steak (medium rare) with a side of Elote street corn. The steak was a little undercooked for me, but still flavorful, and the sides were great- charred green beans, cilantro rice, and a green salsa that really worked. The Elote was the highlight.

My boss had the mesquite chicken, which our server recommended, and she also told us about the marinated pork chop (which sounded great, but I don’t eat pork unless it’s bacon).

The service was excellent, especially considering how new the restaurant is. I had a Clásico Margarita that was good, but I wish they had a Paloma on the menu.

Overall, Mexican Sugar is a great addition to the Addison area. Beautiful space, fresh food, friendly service, and right behind the Home2 Suites – an easy walk and worth the visit.

Great vibe and great people!

Loved the vibe here! The restaurant has such a warm, lively Latin atmosphere — perfect for brunch with friends or a dinner date. The food was flavorful (especially the tacos and ceviche!), and the cocktails were so good — definitely try their margaritas

Service was friendly and quick, and the presentation of everything was beautiful. The place gets pretty busy, so I’d recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends.

Overall, a super fun spot with great food, drinks, and energy. Definitely coming back!

We came in for a family dinner after a long day of errands. It is almost Valentine’s Day and I loved seeing the chicken in our meal was shaped as a heart! I’m not sure if that was a coincidence but we loved it! The meal tasted so good. It was premium. Afterwards I had the ice cream trio. My favorite is the wedding cake ice cream. The atmosphere is beautiful. I love the candles over the kitchen. You can even sit at a window and watch the chefs in action. The general manager Jared was fantastic- and checked that we were enjoying our meal. Our server Emerson was always available when we needed anything and happily took care of us. It’s a great restaurant to meet with family and friends. I highly recommend!

I had such a great time at Mexican Sugar in Addison. The vibe is fun, the food and drinks was on point, but honestly, the hospitality is what really makes this place stand out.
Jen, the bartender, is amazing. She has this natural way of making everyone feel welcome and included. If you’re single or just like hanging out at the bar, this is exactly the kind of experience you want. She connects with people so easily, keeps the energy upbeat, and somehow makes the whole place feel friendly and comfortable.
She’s truly a huge asset to the restaurant. I’ve been to a lot of bars and restaurants, and Jen sets the standard for what great hospitality should feel like. Because of her, Mexican Sugar (Addison location) is definitely one of my go to spots now..I have been to other location, this one is differen.

We came here for a work dinner party and this place did not disappoint! The atmosphere is slightly dark and comfortable, beautiful interior, and kind staff. The appetizers tasted great, like the arepas with barría. The salsa they served was temperature warm and delicious! For dinner, we split the adobo steak salad subbing out the tequila vinaigrette with the cilantro lime dressing. WOW! The salad greens and everything tasted fresh, the steak was perfectly cooked, and very well seasoned. The Yukon fries were good especially with the red sauce served with it. Finally, we ended it with the flan topped with fruit. It was pretty good, especially the fresh fruit! I wasn’t a big fan of the cookie though and the flan was overall good. The experience was great and everyone at the table loved their food! So definitely would recommend this place if you’re feeling a more than casual Tex mex experience.

Really upscale restaurant with really elevated traditional Mexican food.

As far as service, our server Steven walked us through the menu and he was spot on.

Shout out to our server Stevend, he steered us through the menu, kept everything filled and was fun to engage. 10 out of 5 stars.

Cool vibe, plenty of parking and we have already said that service was excellent. The bar area was really cool, bartenders were a little backlogged, but when we did get our drinks, they were fantastic.

But you really don’t want to hear about that, you wanna hear just about the food.:

Sangria – frozen, very unique but delicious.
Espresso Martini – another solid choice
Queso – solid choice, but carries some heat.
Salsa – served temperature hot, dark, good flavor.
Carrots – fantastic flavor, firm but firm tender.
Cauliflower – disappointing, lots of cilantro, but very little lime.
Brasa Chivken Tacos – flavor was good, but the spice level was maybe a bit much.
Pork Chop – OK I think I died and went to heaven because the pork chop was so tender, so flavorful I wanted to eat every single bite. ORDER THIS for sure..

Great spot, upscale Mexican with some elevated dishes.

Janet was absolutely phenomenal. I’ve genuinely never experienced a server who was as attentive, intentional, and thoughtful about the quality of service as she was tonight. From start to finish, she made the entire experience feel seamless and elevated, without ever being intrusive.

The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic, and the food and drinks were just as impressive—everything came together perfectly. But Janet truly made the night memorable. Service like hers is rare and deserves recognition.

Will absolutely be back and hoping to be seated in her section again.
