AS OF JUNE 2025 – Shop elsewhere!! Service has gon down hill!
They refused to help me after spending almost $200.00 on the damaged cake! (DAMAGED CAKE IN WHITE BOX)
I went to Sam’s Club and bought two cakes (BEAUTIFUL CAKE, perfectly decorated by my husband and I) for under $50.00. We decorated them using the decor I bought from amazon to to go on the cake purchased from La LUZ.
We reached out to the company more than 10 times attempting to speak with the manager since the day it happened. Mario(tall latino guy, he brought the cake out) indicated that he escalated the issue.
We have yet to receive an apology from the bakey, yet to receive a call back from the owners or a manager in charge.
The service speaks for itself. My famly and I have been customers with this bakey for more than 10 years, hell my husband went to high school with one of the daughters of the owner.
To show the owners we were not attempting to scam them, we returned the cake that same day and still have NOT HEARD BACK.
Considering that it was well over 100 degrees outside and the cake was made fresh that morning – still hot. they should have attempted to help a customer who has shopped with them for quite some time. We travel from wintrop harbor all the way to round lake due to loyality – but that has been shattered as the owners felt it was more important to keep the money for the cake and not offer us any kind of solution and kept going with his life.
He didnt care that my 2 year old niece was going to go without a cake for her party – mind you the cake was ordered 3 weeks in advance – it could have been made the night before to prepare for the hot weather!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, we will be taking our business elsewhere.
SHOP ELSEWHERE!!!! The Sam’s cake was delicious, affordable, COLD, and quick. Took me and my husband 15 mins to assemble! Guys invest your money elsewhere.

Figured I’d give them a shot for a birthday cake this year, and I couldn’t be happier! Their tres leches cakes are exceptional. They are all beautifully decorated. Flavor was top notch. These cakes are super fresh, and the crumb was great! (The birthday girl loved it too, which is the opinion that matters most!)
Don’t let the $35-$40 price tag scare you off. These cakes are massive, and can serve a nice crowd. Worth every penny, especially when compared to a $30 store bought tres leches cake of similar size. They offer smaller and more affordable tres leches cakes as well, which are easier on the wallet if you’re working with a tight budget.
Service was great too, which is always a plus.
I can tell they take a lot of pride in their work here. Don’t pass on this local gem!

I ordered my cake from La Luz after having tasted their Tres Leches cake for my nephew’s birthday over the summer. It was one of the best Tres Leches cakes I’ve tasted. Though Round Lake is quite the drive from Rolling Meadows, I knew it’d be worth it. I ordered it 2 weeks in advance, and the owner who took my order was very polite, patient, and took all my details. I did have a complaint after attempting to get a question answered and being placed on long holds twice, with no follow up by a younger employee, but the owner resolved the matter and was super understanding which I appreciated. The cake turned out so beautiful, we were VERY happy and our guests said it was super tasty! Thank you very much!
