We stopped at The Italian Kitchen at DFW Airport because of the big-name celebrity chef attached to it, but unfortunately the food didn’t live up to the reputation.

We ordered the Italian Pizza and the BBQ Chicken Pizza, and both were very disappointing. The sauce on the pizzas had almost no flavor at all. While the toppings themselves were decent, they were extremely light, especially for the price. The crust was thin and cracker-like, but not in a good way — it had no real taste and was honestly just a slight step above cardboard.

We also had the Side Broccolini, which was fine, but nothing memorable or enough to redeem the meal. Even the experience of grabbing a Topo Chico felt like the safest choice.

The ambiance and atmosphere were pleasant and are the only reasons this isn’t a one-star review. A major bright spot was Joy, our server — she was an absolute pleasure, friendly, attentive, and did a great job despite the disappointing food.

Overall, this place relies heavily on the chef’s name, but the execution just isn’t there.

10 stars for my server Jenn, her suggestion was fantastic. I highly recommend the ravioli with Alfredo sauce and shrimp; it was my best meal at Dallas Airport. It makes you feel like you’re in a 5-star hotel. It’s totally worth it. And the Malbec wine from Argentina is simply spectacular. Thank you!

Yawn reception- I was shocked & felt offended to see the guy at the entrance reception who yawned at me as approached- it went on for a minute with his mouth opening up fully over a minute without covering his mouth. It was like a hippo that is so bored & try to keep you off the place. I would have definitely turned away if I was not hungry. Fortunately the Fennel salad & Ravioli were excellent. So I endorse/ thank the Italian chef

I went here because they were the only sit down place I could find in the terminal that did not make me order on my phone via QR code. I was expecting the standard airport experience, but was pleasantly surprised. The place was clean and quiet. I was served by Rebecca, who is very sweet. She was quick, polite, and efficient. She even gave me my coffee refill to-go when I left. I paid $22.19 before tip for an omelette, toast, potatoes, and coffee, which I feel is more than reasonable. This is the standard airport resteraunts need to be held to, and it was refreshing to see.

Based on past experiences, I usually don’t expect tasty or high-quality food at airports. But I decided to give this Italian kitchen at DFW a try, and wow—the BBQ chicken pizza was amazing. The crust was so flavorful and crunchy that I found myself wanting to eat every bite of it. The server was also incredibly thoughtful, asking about my time crunch and making sure my food came out quickly.

Overall, even airport food in Texas seems to be on another level.
Would I go back to this kitchen? Absolutely. Anytime I’m flying through DFW Terminal D, this will be my go-to spot.

I had a great pre-flight meal as a solo diner! Luis was attentive and even asked when my flight boarded to ensure timely service was provided. He provided great service, and the food and environment were wonderful. Thanks Luis and Italian Kitchen for a great start to my trip!

I think the food quality must really depend on the day, because I don’t understand some of the negative reviews at all.

I had the pesto linguine and subbed the shrimp for chicken and it was some of the best pesto I’ve had in a long time. I also had an Italian mule and it was delicious with it. The server was friendly, but seemed distracted (understandable, it was busy AND Christmas day).

Overall, no real complaints. Food was delicious and portioned perfectly to feel nice and full. Price is as you would expect for airport food, especially in a restaurant with a chef’s name on it.

The manager was beyond disrespectful and insolent towards me . Refused to return my money for a salad I ordered that did not meet my expectations and I didn’t want it. Instead I wanted a different salad option. He very rudely stated “I’m the GM and I’m not exchanging that salad. It’s fine. I very politely told him it doesn’t look at all appetizing to me. And I don’t want it. I would like something different. He refused an told me to give it to someone else but he’s not exchanging it but would charge me for another salad. I said Sir I don’t want this salad it doesn’t look appealing or appetizing to me. Needless to say, I left the salad and he looked at me and said oh well and I left the store without my money being returned.

It’s so said custom service has come to this attitude and treatment.

The pizza was excellent, and the arugula salad was truly delicious. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with comfortable high-top tables, making it an inviting place to dine. Our server, Manrique, recommended the tiramisu for dessert, which was quite tasty. Overall, a great experience!

My server’s first question was – how much time do you have? That little touch, acknowledging the challenge of eating while traveling, made my day! The delicious food came out quickly. The portions were just right for travelers unable to take home leftovers. The Coppa Raspberry and cream was divine.
