After being told I needed a reservation… ok.. I just was like duck it, let’s just eat here. We ordered something for two, and you get a good amount of sides. Steak at medium rare. It was ok.
But the best experience was our server. I think his name is Matthew? At least, it says that on the receipt. But he was extremely nice, and he explained everything to us – why the two for one cocktail is not a real deal that they have (they received menus from England) and other stuff. I’m not being facetious, he was legit the only kind person we have experienced from Glasgow that evening. Thank you for making our evening pleasant!
Oh, highly recommend people to sign up on their website. You get a good discount deal that way 🙂
The starters were delicious especially the salt & pepper squid and the Asian crispy beef which we shared with halloumi fries.
The steaks were cooked to perfection. Minimal fat, soft juicy meat and very tasty. The beef dripping sauce arrives cold and almost tastes like a brown sauce when you sample it but with the meat and the chips etc. it tastes delicious.
My only gripe with most steakhouses is the plates are served quite bare. It’s steak and chips. Even a quarter of a tomato would go a long way but I am not complaining. I thoroughly enjoyed every last bite of food.
Service was excellent. Not pressured. Not rushed. Not too slow. I think the staff members’ name was Andrew. A gentleman!
We didn’t get a pudding but I did treat myself to a cocktail. There’s plenty to choose from and it was the perfect end to our meal.
Starting with the child’s menu, our daughter loved her starter she had garlic bread which, she never usually likes steak but absolutely smashed her main and constantly said it was “delicious” , she then had ice-cream for dessert and was very happy with that.
For the adults menu myself and partner didn’t have a starter as none appealed to us. For the mains I had the steak sandwich with the steak done medium-rare and it was cooked to perfection. Plenty of tomatos and red onion with a garlic sauce which was lovely. It also came with chips which were really good. My partner had steak and frites again cooked medium-rare and yet again cooked to perfection. For dessert I had cookie dough which was absolutely to die for and my partner had a chocolate brownie which she loved. Our server was a relatively young woman who was lovely and very polite and friendly. Will 100% be going back. Luckily for us we’re not overly far from Glasgow, so our next day trip through we know where we will be eating. I saw some food off the main menu which looked delicious. Highly recommend
I upgraded to a filet steak which was not good. Very low quality meat – grisly, thin and not cooked how I asked.
The “hand cut chips” were actually frozen.
The camembert starter was lovely though.
It was a waste of £36 sadly.
About 20 minutes wait just to order drinks and the food even though there was multiple waitresses standing around having a chat throughout this wait. Finally our server Waheed arrived to take our order. Some people like that kind of service however I found it over the top and quite fake asking first names and what not is just weird in a restaurant setting in my opinion.
Anyway drinks came and then it was 40 minute wait between the drinks arriving and the starters arriving.
The restaurant wasn’t even busy probably not even 1/3 capacity.
Although the starters where ok one was tepid at this stage I wasn’t about to wait another 40 minutes for a reeeplacement and just ate it.
After finishing the starter the main came quite soon after although ordered the Chateaubriand 16oz and felt very short changed at the price compared to what we got.
It definitely didn’t seem like 16oz although it was very nice, the garlic mushroom side was lovely, the “triple cooked chips” tasted like any other you’d put in your frier at home, the asparagus was well overdone.
Then waiting around for someone to ask for a bill.
There was enough staff but not enough actually working!
Waheen seemed like the only wait staff actually doing anything.
Finally we get the bill which was wrong however he’d noticed and changed it.
He was apologetic about the service and I told him I’d noticed staff standing around while we waited and he replied “I know” like it was an expected thing there.
This whole experience took around 2 hours in total and wasn’t cheap.
They’re marketing themselves as quite a nice place which it is but the food and service doesn’t match the prices.
