I am begging you to make Midtown Eats your next brunch destination. Every food item is beautifully presented, carefully made, and the taste is OUTSTANDING. The servers are attentive, friendly, and extremely hospitable.

My partner and I have tried the Chicken & Waffles, the Midtown Breakfast Bowl, the Peanut Butter & Honey French Toast, and the Texas Brisket Omelette. When I tell you that each dish was packed with flavor, you better believe it. They know how to make brunch and they do it well. Not to mention each dish was affordable and the portion sizes were larger than expected!

If I had to leave a negative, it would be the cigarette smell coming from the Sandbar Pub & Grill attached next door. It is a smoking bar, but after a few minutes in the restaurant, the smell goes away. With their cleanliness standards, the smell does not affect the taste of the food, so you do not have to worry about that. If you are sensitive to these things, I recommend that you order take out or eat outside on their lovely patio.

Regardless, you should give Midtown a shot, because they are definitely one of the best brunch places in Newport News.

Great food, well priced. There’s a family eating area or you can choose the full bar with plenty of dart boards. Drinks are good! McKinsey the bartender is friendly and helpful.

Came for a party from NC & we went to get breakfast here with my family. The atmosphere was great we sat outside because the AC was on full blast. The amount they serve and how much it cost it’s so cheap. The food was delicious & everything was presentable. Definitely will stop by again!!!

The plates are pretty big and filling! Our server was awesome and very attentive. The food was good and prices were normal. They do have $3 mimosas, but I didn’t try one today.

Midtown Eats is an interesting little spot on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. I was on a lunch date on my first visit. When we arrived were greeted and seated quickly. The decor is interesting with an artistic expression both rustic and juvenile.
The menu looked promising with a selection of what I would describe as comfort foods.
I chose the gumbo it’s a favorite and the adult grilled cheese with several cheeses on rustic bread. My partner chose the Philly Steak Sandwich with tots we both had soft drinks. The Gumbo had a wonderful flavor but was missing the rice! When I inquired I was informed that it was served with hush puppies. This was NOT a good combination in my opinion. And the hush puppies were dense and over cooked. The grilled cheese was definitely grilled to death not burnt but so crunchy that it hurt to bite into it. The Philly was a Philly nothing to make it anything but. The tots were grease logged as if the oil had not been hot enough. Some of this could have been just a ok whatever shrug the kitchen is having an off day. But it took 40 minutes for our food to arrive from the time we ordered. There were two other tables another 2 top and a 3 top so not at all busy. This was a sad experience and I left frustrated not having spoken to anyone about the issues so as to not embarrass my date who doesn’t like to draw attention.

I’ve been here several times and they were all great until now. We walked in, got no greeting and two tables still had trash on them. We wanted to dine in and I have been served before but i guess at 6:30 at night that isn’t an option even when there is no one else dining. That would have been fine if the ketchup didn’t taste like BEER. Strongly tasted like i was drinking alcohol. This is unacceptable and i will not be coming back.

We were greeted very warmly from the very beginning. The food was really good too. Good value for quality here. I made a sloppy mess of my burger; this was a yummy mess. There’s inside and outside patio seating. There’s nothing extravagant here, very laid back. They pepper salt their fries here. I enjoyed the fries, too. I did have to wipe down my table and booth with a napkin when I first sat down.

The flat bread pizza and the fries were banging. But the chicken cheese steak didnt get eaten. It tastes like chicken that had been sitting in a warmer and not even thrown on the grill with seasoning. And got the bread soggy like that too. Prices are different online than in store apparently so order online where it is cheaper. 19 dollars for a sub and fries advertised for 15 and it sucked. If you are gona charge that much it should not suck.

3 hours later so sick

So I didn’t even realize this place did Breakfast, to be honest I was only familiar with the “sandbar” side of the place. So I was surprised when I saw the open sign on at 8am. But super glad I stopped in, the waitress was fantastic and the food was awesome. No way was expecting this beautiful plate of food to come out, but there is was, and it was great tasting. My photo doesn’t do it justice. What a hidden gem for breakfast, I’ll definitely be back.
