Stopped in while passing thru town. Ordered a club sandwich, and Patty melt. Betty, our server, was very polite and quite attentive to us. The restaurant has a large seating capacity and many food options. Food quality was spot on. The milk shake machine was broken, but that was the only bad thing. The place is cozy, and you can call for takeout. Thanks for the hospitality.

Pleasant local diner attached to a gas station. The decor is kinda dated but the restaurant is very clean and the folks working there are SO friendly! My husband had chicken fried steak with mashed ‘taters and white gravy. He said it was ‘okay’, but the gravy was not good. I had a salad topped with crispy chicken strips. It was basic with a sliced boiled egg on top. It was a fun place to grab a bite while traveling though town.

Simple unhealthy overpriced grub but the old guys sitting near you having loud conversations about Walmart and phlegm brings my rating up from a 2. The burgers are small but the fries are delicious. On the High Plains all salads are iceberg and mostly white, reflective of the clientele. When a vibrant energetic family from the city walks through the doors everyone turns to look at these suspiciously smiling faces. These urbanites don’t have that look of defeat and windswept skin. Who the heck do they think they are? Overall, a typical burger joint in a sparsely populated middle of nowhere plains town. Food is pretty good comparatively. Baked potato was good. They didn’t skimp on the bacon!

Upside: Friendly staff, large parking area in back to accommodate tractor trailer sized vehicles, good menu selection, sort of the older restaurant / diner vibe which is a good thing.
Downside: 12oz sirloin was way overcooked and I believe over priced, same with guest I was with. Wish waitress would’ve stopped by a few more times.
Comments: Review based on one visit. Some of the other food coming out looked very good.

+$15 out the door for a breakfast burrito with no drink or anything. It was decent, but excruciating expensive. I ordered it without green chilli sauce on top because who like a sopping wet burrito (particularly one with eggs in it). Lots of people there, good environment but too expensive.

Passing through on our way to Dodge City and noticed Hickory House. Looking to support local small business and made right choice. Good crowd, super staff and food was excellent large portions. The chicken salad wrap made my day.

Stopped in for a quick dinner so I could get back on the road. Had an 8 ounce chicken fried steak dinner. It was phenomenal, and coming from a Texan that’s quite the compliment. The cherry rhubarb pie for dessert was the best I’ve ever had. My server went above and beyond, very courteous, and very prompt. Take my word for it, you won’t regret stopping in.

The BEST place in Lamar for breakfast. Good size portions. Extremely friendly and attentive wait staff. Clean dining area. Been coming here for years. Their omelettes are my favorite, huge portion and cooked to perfection.
