At The Flying Mexica, we’re all about bold flavors, good vibes, and food that brings people together. We specialize in two things we’re seriously passionate about: crispy, saucy chicken wings and authentic Mexican favorites made with heart. Our wings are cooked to perfection and tossed in flavors ranging from classic and fiery to smoky and sweet—whether you like them mild or “why did I do this?” hot. On the Mexican side, we serve up timeless staples inspired by street food and family kitchens, using fresh ingredients and big, unapologetic flavor. We started The Flying Mexicanwith one simple goal: create a spot where everyone feels welcome and every meal hits the spot. Whether you’re here for game night, a quick bite, or a full-on feast wi

The portion sizes were huge, which was honestly one of the best parts. The buffalo chicken sandwich was amazing — flavorful, perfectly cooked, and very satisfying. We also ordered a burrito, which was surprisingly unique and absolutely delicious. Every bite felt thoughtfully made, and we genuinely loved every part of the experience.
Overall, great food, generous portions, and a cozy atmosphere make this place a must-visit. We’d definitely come back again!
V.A. and Lilly are awesome bartenders (make sure you tip).
Oh Mike……. We didn’t forget about you. The customer service is over the top. He’ll keep you updated with the latest changes on the menu, make sure you’re comfortable, engages into conversations, and so much more.
Grab your family and friends for a great night out of fun, laughter, drinks, and food.
Upon arriving we were kindly greeted by the host and promptly seated. Immediately I took notice of the great lucha themed decor. Most notably the luchador mask lights that were above the tables. These lights looked fantastic and I’d love to have one for my home. There were various pieces of artwork depicting luchadors, along with some wrestling figures, and even old school lucha matches being shown on the televisions. The centerpiece being the vibrant mural of Rey Mysterio vs The Flying Mexican across from the bar.
Our server was quick to bring us water and chips with a sweet salsa to enjoy as we perused the menu. With so many dishes to choose from I ultimately went with the Smoked Beef Birria burrito, and my friend chose some of the mambo pineapple wings, and a Flying Mexican Enchilada. It didn’t take long at all for our meals to arrive. Everything was great. My burrito was a perfect portion that ended up filling my appetite. The flavor of the birria combined with the savory consume broth blended perfectly.
During our meal, the owner Mike stopped by our table to check on us. I praised his establishment along with his choice of decor and the lucha mask lights. He told me they were custom made and it shows with the quality and aesthetic. He also mentioned that they had a covered roof top bar that is open on the weekends during the winter months, and more so during the warmer ones.
Overall, I loved this location. The atmosphere was great with the themed and unique decor. The food was excellent with good portion size, reasonable prices, and fresh quality ingredients. If you enjoy Mexican food I highly recommend this restaurant. If you are a wrestling fan especially, be sure to visit The Flying Mexican when you are in the District.

I want to be clear that I’m not just saying this because I work in customer service—I notice service, and Sarah is a true standout. What impressed me even more was that this wasn’t just my experience; I watched her give the same level of care and attention to other patrons throughout the venue. She’s an absolute star and truly elevates the entire experience.
The food was also absolutely amazing. Everything came out in a timely fashion, the flavors were on point, and the drinks were flawless. The unlimited drinks for $27.99 is truly unbeatable. The only small suggestion would be adding the cheese to the outside of the burrito taco and crisping the outside a bit more for extra crunch—but aside from that, everything was excellent.
The service was great excellent and the place atmosphere was nice. Plenty of seating for all type of parties and they also have outdoor seating
