Upscale. Soul. Food. Flavorful, filling, and fairly priced for the experience. Menu is put together well to meet appetizer/entrée/desert expectations.
Slow when we went in 2021. Coming off of Covid restrictions at the time I would say their staffing and service exceeded expectations. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Music was too loud and lighting was too dim for my dad; they quickly made adjustments to better meet his needs.

My Gawd this food was amazing. We ordered the hot honey chicken wings, shrimp and grits, fried pork chop, Mac and cheese, YAMS, peach cobbler cheesecake. EVERYTHING was a home run. Service felt like I was with family. Atmosphere was a vibe too! Absolutely give it a try.

Absolutely incredible. My husband and I dined for the first time on Saturday for a special occasion and we were blown away by the food, the presentation, and the overall dining experience. It was the first night of their new menu and we enjoyed what we ordered. We even ordered the SOCU oysters and Hennessy Peach Cobbler which were both delicious. I personally recommend the oxtails. It wasn’t too crowded as they have limited seating at the moment and timing in between each meal wasn’t too long. Treat yourself to a great dining experience!

I’ve been trying to get to SoCu for some time now and after almost three years, I FINALLY made it.
Let me tell you, it was WORTH EVERY MOMENT!!!
The service was amazing! Our waitress, Sabrina took really good care of us. Made some really awesome recommendations and was super attentive to our needs. The establishment was really clean and and the aesthetic was super cute. Staff was really friendly and made my guest and I feel like we were right at home.
Even the General Manager came and checked on us a few times and made sure we were good.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Amazing food, amazing people, and an experience that was out of this world. THANK YOU, SoCu for this experience. It was definitely worth it!
I can’t wait to come back and for you to open up your location in the DC Metro area.

I absolutely love supporting a Black-owned business, especially when the food is immaculate and upscale. Our server Monica was fantastic and recommended all the best things on the menu. I would trust her with my life. The building is an old dive bar music venue they’ve really brought back to life and made like new. I really enjoyed everything from the oysters to the dessert. It’s pricy but worth it. I’m happy to see incredible soul food priced appropriately. I’ll be back very soon.

This place has a beautiful and elegant vibe when you walk in with some posh seating and warm tones. They let you pick where you want to sit and you download the menu on your phone. We were greeted with warm smiles and our waitress was Angel and she lived up to her name and was very knowledgeable about the menu and local things to do! We ordered the southern breakfast with conecuh sausage and red potatoes with scrambled egg… followed with the fluffiest biscuit we ever ate! We did the fried chicken and waffle so we could share everything we could sample. The chicken we could really taste the perfect scald and seasoned to perfection. Going to have to go back for a plate next week! The waffle was fluffy and melted in your mouth. This is a Southern Gem Secret y’all so may have to make a reservation in the future once everyone finds out about it!

I have gone twice both times celebrating something special and Ms. Monica was great. She is like that aunt that keeps it real. The food was great and so were the drinks. The ambiance and music matches my energy every time. The Socu signature oysters don’t miss. This place is most definitely worth the visit.

I made reservations and seating had to be arranged a little.Great place for a friends’ night out but the atmosphere is not intimate. It felt a little cramped and the table we had was small; not very comfortable with the toss pillows (I has to moved them). Cute, but not very functional or necessary. You have to have your phone for the menu. The menu is short, so it really could be printed on the same size card as the QR code card.
We felt very rushed to order from the waitress. She tried her best, but she kept asking the same questions before we could really start eating. The food was okay….some entrees are not worth the price. Small plate lobster deviled eggs and my seafood dressing were delicious. I did not like the flavor, dryness, or textures of my salmon, shrimp and scallops. There were three shrimp and three scallops with the salmon and it was not worth $40.00. My husband had the fish ( he said it was okay) and my daughter had chicken and waffle (she said it was good).

We happened upon this restaurant after walking past many that were closed. What a gem. The food was amazing. We had the BEST EVER oysters for an appetizer and the fried chicken for our entrees. The chicken was so moist. The food was amazing but what really stood out was the staff. Angel and Sabrina were so friendly, and attentive. They are an asset to this establishment. Thank you so much for making our night so enjoyable. To the owner your menu has a great selection and you are brilliant being one of a few restaurants opened on a Monday.

Nice atmosphere in a good location downtown. We sat on the balcony and it was a perfect setting. Recommend coming here at least once.
Food and drink were pretty good as well but it was a bit salty, especially the oysters.
The lobster deviled eggs were really unique and tasty. Would’ve been better if the lobster wasn’t fried.
