We found this place randomly on Google after a hike. It is a small quaint neighborhood restaurant a great menu. We were pleasantly surprised by the choices. I tell you the chef got it right. I had the grilled veggie sandwich and basil soup( it was very thick but good).The others had the steak frittates and brussel sprouts. All was enjoyed. For dessert, the bread pudding was on point. Wow was it on point!!! It will now be my favorite new place when I come to the bay.

What a hidden gem. The food is fantastic. We’ve been several times and every time it’s been delicious. They prepare everything from tamales to brisket, and it’s all great. The staff are also super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. Highly recommend.

I’ve now been here a handful of times. It’s my favorite restaurant in Oakland. Joes, the owner, is a really cool dude and has put a chill menu together.

I had a phenomenal experience at Taps and Takeout and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a bite to eat, terrific beer on tap, or a warm ambiance. Joe, the owner, welcomed me into his place and was very kind to me throughout my time there. I had the steak sandwich and it was a well done meal at a good price ($12 for mine). The menu is extensive and the chef in the back does a great job getting orders out. I met some nice people there as well, mostly locals from the surrounding neighborhoods. It had a nice community feet to it and I’m sure I’ll be back very soon.

Local spot, it was dead (no ambience or other patrons), small cozy cute dining room, bbq was good – a bit spendy for the quality but good portions… Prob will not go out of my way to return but if I did might be willing to give it another chance or recommend others to at least try it and report back..

Perfect spot for a bite before an event at the church across the street. Our server was absolutely delightful. It was fun to be offered free shots of whiskey when we arrived. Food is satisfying and reasonably priced. Lots of families having a great time.

What a charming little place. So glad we found it on Google Maps. It’s hard to find Matzo ball soup anywhere at all, and this one was delicious. I especially loved the macaroni and cheese. Meat on the ribs fell off the bone, as it should. Service was friendly and attentive. And in the age of the $45 pizza, in contrast the prices are extremely reasonable here.

Phenomenal, albeit *very small* neighborhood bar with great simple food. Joe is an incredibly friendly and welcoming owner, so if you live in the area, walk on down! There’s often local music playing next door. Just a quiet, chill spot. We love it.
