This is exactly the small town vibe I had been hoping for. Rolled in on a late Sunday evening while driving from Chicago to Columbus. It was dusk— the blues and greys giving way to shadow. Waymire’s Corner Tap was opened, indicating so with a lit-up neon sign.
It was a homely atmosphere. Sat at the bar and immediately talked to a fellow and met friendly Judy. It feels as though it had lunged straight out of generations past. There is even an old music machine (I’m too young to know the name). Yet, it still has modern televisions despite the retro feel.
The prices were very good. Steaks are still pricey, but I got a chicken sandwich and fries for dirt cheap. And it was, I say, a CHICKEN SANDWICH, not any little thing. Didn’t care for the little “voodoo” Halloween figurine on the bar before me, for that stuff is too dark and demonic for Halloween fun IMO, but besides that, I love the atmosphere. I didn’t want to leave.
Oh, and I always judge a place by its bathroom. It reminded me of the bathroom in my grandma’s house; that is a good thing.

What an absolute gem of a place! Was lucky tonight that there were only a couple other regulars there, and I got a chance to chat with Judy. She shared with me her awesome story spanning 38 years. She is as genuine as they come, and her food is delicious! I’ll definitely be making the hour drive out here more often!

This place certainly won’t be for everyone. Judy the owner is a one of a kind lady. Sit at the bar and ask about her Sasquatch items in the bar. It’s a bar that has a long history but is probably not going to be around when Judy passes.

Enjoyed every second of our meal. Judy was an awesome hostess to us being our first time there and new to the area. I had the Prime Rib and my wife and son both had burgers. If you are ever in the area, I recommend that you give that prime rib a taste. Definitely worth the stop or trip to come out!

Love to spend my money at small and local businesses. The prices are reasonable and you can watch as Judi prepares your meal. Her prime rib is outstanding. My husband has never been disappointed with any of the lake perch, frog legs or stuffed shrimp either. You wont leave hungry. Keep up the good work Judi!

My husband and I just moved to Knox, Indiana in December. We bought a 5 acre slice of heaven and have been patronizing many local restaurants to give them a try. Last night we found a diamond in the rough, Waymires Corner Tap in Hamlet, Indiana. WOW!! We both ordered prime rib, which was outstanding!! All the locals who were patronizing said they order daily from Judy the owner, and that next time we should try her burgers. They said they are the best because Judy does everything with love. We were able to talk to Judy after the rush for a couple of minutes. She is a nice woman, has been running the place herself since her husband passed in 2005. The pub is clean, decorated with a lot of nostalgia and the locals love her. Just the kind of place we would like to give our business too!! Sometimes the best places are not the big fancy places with a lot of advertisement, sometimes the best places are the ones that let their food speak for it, no need to advertise when all your customers rave about it, and on top of that, Waymires has received 2 awards for having the best burgers. A win win for us!! We plan on giving her a lot of our business!!

Judy is very nice and friendly, I had the pork tenderloin sandwich which was the BEST I ever had, my friend had a cheeseburger which she said was VERY good!! Thanks Judy for being so nice and the great food!! I will definitely be back!!
