This new Dominican restaurant opened in my neighborhood; we were very excited and wanted to try it. We ordered the pernil with yellow rice lunch special just to see if we liked it. We also ordered an empanada, a quipe, and a side order of white rice and beans. The pernil was very tasty but the yellow rice had no flavor (terrible), and the empanada had a sour taste to it. I have been eating empanadas all my life and never tasted a sour one – right to the garbage. They made a mistake with the side order and sent yellow rice instead of white. I don’t like yellow rice and will not eat it, so I called to have them rectify the situation. They were combative and said that I had ordered the yellow rice. Remember I don’t eat yellow rice so I would have never ordered it. They finally agreed to send over an order of white rice. When the delivery person arrived with the white rice, they requested that the yellow rice be given back to them. That is a huge red flag because it is a major sanitation and health code violation for a restaurant to take any food back that has been delivered. So think about it , what is to stop them from reselling it to to a poor unsuspecting patron of the restaurant? Needless to say, I now distrust them and will never patronize this establishment again. Its a shame because they just opened, but I am warning all my friends and family members to stay far, far away from them.
