Visiting with some friends we were presented with an absolute feast (dishes were the hosts choice) of Thai classics as well as some new flavours. Be sure to book, well worth a visit. Ask Nat about coffee…
Waw! And I don’t say this lightly!
What an incredible hidden gem!
The decoration, the lovely quiet snug location, The level of hygiene, the staff, the food……
Everything fresh and cooked to perfection. There is absolutely no expense spared with a layout and preparation like this.
The portions are fit for royalty and for a moment sat there….I felt like a king!
With enough for another meal the next day!
Value for money and some!
If you’re not drooling yet….
The dish ? my all-time favourite, Thai chicken green curry with pineapple fried rice… (Not many Thai restaurants do the pineapple version) And no other Thai restaurant cooks rice quite like this…. There were tomatoes, peppers, cashew nuts And even the way the carrots were crinkle cut…
It shows when someone is passionate about their work, and this place… everything about it, has the passion of a chef, an interior designer And now a very fussy food critic giving Jan Lek 10 out of 5 stars all the way!
I’ll be back….with others! THANK YOU ขอบคุณ

Also gotta mention the drinks! Jan Lek offers easy access to great tasting and ethically-sourced coffees brewed meticulously by a legend behind the bar, but with none of the pretension. There’s also a wine list and cocktail menu that I’ve unfortunately not had the pleasure of tasting yet, but I have no doubt that they’d be quality too!
To sum up – I love that I don’t have to travel too far to get a taste of authentic + homely Thai food and fun filter brews, but at the same time this place is absolutely worth the journey if you’re travelling from further afield!
A lovely welcome from the staff, and a Christmas card with a voucher was waiting for me at the table.
The service was really friendly, not rushed, and the atmosphere was lovely. It’s like sitting in someone’s dining room and there are only 5 tables so it never got noisy..
The food was exceptional, we have just returned from holidaying in Thailand, and the food here was totally authentic. The Pad Kra Pao I ordered came spicy as requested, but the real start of the show was the fish cakes in the mixed starter. All of us loved everything we ate.
It’s so good to have found a genuine Thai restaurant to visit, we will definitely be visiting again, and I would strongly recommend this place. Great food, great people and great value.
The food was incredible (we had one of the 3 set menus, but there are plenty of individual dishes to choose from, including vegetarian) – in truth, the best Thai we have ever had, and the addition on the menu of a heart to identify a ‘must try’ is great. Definitely worth the journey! The atmosphere is homely and relaxed, with a number of tables chatting to one another. We will absolutely be back in the near future.
As an extra for those unfamiliar with Audlem, the is a car park more of less opposite the courtyard where Janlek is based.
