Sweet Georgia Brown’s: Authentic Soul Food Review – TikTok

I visited a Dallas Tx staple, Sweet Georgia Brown’s, a spot that’s been serving up great soul food for years.

Dallas classic spot. Hometown cooking. The barbecue is okay. The brisket not the best i’ve had. But I will say the sides are simply delicious!. The meats were a little disappointing but the sides made up for it. Like most barbecue places a little pricey. And the portions are huge! You will be taking some home. The sauce was pretty good. But once again, the meats were a little disappointing. Friendly service with a smile which I enjoy. I would come back to support them. I suggest given it a try.

Got there right after open and was greeted warmly by the man that played my food. However the lady who checked me out wasn’t nearly as pleasant and a little condescending. When they did turn music on, it was sky high and a bit disruptive. That’s on me for sitting underneath a TV but regardless, way too loud. The drink machine was broken and so I only had water as my option. The food was lukewarm at best (except the sides, they were piping hot) and the sliced beef was awful. I mean like I felt sick eating the sliced beef and didn’t finish it at all. The ribs had good flavor but were lukewarm and dry. The Mac and cheese was alright but could have been a thicker consistency. The mashed potatoes and gravy were by far the best part though, that brown gravy was great! The cornbread was dry, flavorless, and cold. The pound cake was the driest and most crumbly pound cake I’ve ever had in my life. Walmart makes better pound cake and I hate their pound cake. I was highly disappointed with how much I paid for soul food I was craving, for it not to be anything more than edible. I won’t be back and won’t recommend this place to anyone.

I grew up on Sweet Georgia Brown as a kid coming up in Oak Cliff. As an adult, it’s been easily, 20+ years since I’ve had it.

Went today…and my oh my…some things never change! Food was just as good as it was when I was a kid. Ordered the ribs, with a side of cabbage, mac and cheese, and broccoli and rice. Girlfriend got the chicken with beans, Mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes.

When I say that not only is this the best soul food spot in the area, but that I was nearly put in a food coma afterwards due to its deliciousness, I’m not even lying.

The sweet potatoes and broccoli and rice….. ….DIVINE! Everything was good, but these two are the ones you write home about.

Will be back!

I got two pork chop dinners to go. When I got home and my husband and I both bit into our pork chops they were still raw. We cut into the other two that came with the plate turned out all 4 were raw. The number on receipt and website are not working numbers. I need my 62.31 refunded ASAP!!

When I got there was so much that I kept changing my mind so I just asked him to give me a minute, and I was finally ready he made me wait which was okay because I understood what he was doing, anyways his service was very friendly the atmosphere is nice and they definitely do not spare the spoon the quality and the amount of the food that they give you is absolutely amazing and everything was absolutely delicious. I drive trucks for a living so when I’m in Dallas I’m definitely making this my Go to spot for dinner and I’ve already told all my other trucker buddies to go to Sweet Georgia Brown

Friend and I went here. Let me tell you if this wasn’t the biggest delight. Every single bit of food we had was 4-5 Stars out of 5! The standouts were the Ribs, Greens, Mashed Potatoes, and Sausage. The pound cake was so good even though we ate it about 5 hours later, but that only due to the fact that we had so much food we couldn’t finish it! The prices are fair when compared to the quality of food and especially the portions. We have found a staple that we will come back to many many times. This place is a Top 10 restaurant I’ve ever been to. The employees were very friendly and also very helpful. Next time I will be trying the Turkey Wings that are sitting in the very tasty gravy. 5/5 Overall Score 97/100

The food was so good! We came all the way from Georgia and this is truly the BEST soul food I have EVER tasted (other than my granny). The first bite of my food took me all the way back to childhood when my granny would cook Sunday dinner. The portions are extremely generous. It’s family operated so they treat you like they know you from the time you walk in the door, the line will be long but they move fast and it’s worth the wait.

Where do I begin. I’ll do pros and cons. The pros are hefty portions. The cons are their meats are always salty and the sides are bland. The plate itself cost 28 dollars during lunch. I’m super disappointed again. Hadn’t ate here in years and nothing has changed. They still giving out high blood pressure meals….

Sweet Georgia Brown’s is soul food done right! The food is full of flavor, fresh, and made with love. The portions are huge, you definitely won’t leave hungry. Everything from the meats to the sides is seasoned perfectly, and the atmosphere is welcoming and authentic. If you’re craving true Southern comfort food, this is the spot. We’ll be back for sure!
