Listen Up! I Salute El Huarique Peruvian Kitchen!
Customer Service-Leo was Outstanding! He recommended the dish I tried and it did not disappoint.
Chicken Plate w/Beans & Rice… Side Salad.. The dressing was delish!
Chicha Mirada-This juice is Incredible. I would have never tried it had he not recommended it as well.
I will be visiting to try more on the menu one dish at a time. I’m excited! They did everything right!

I’m going to start off by saying that I’m Peruvian, and after living in LA and trying different Peruvian restaurants, I can confidently say this place is special. There’s truly no other spot like El Huarique. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and you can taste the love in every dish. It feels like a hidden gem, which is exactly why it’s called “El Huarique” (meaning secret spot).
The ceviche is as fresh and flavorful as back home, and the lomo saltado is cooked to perfection. Service is friendly, and even though it’s a small spot, the atmosphere makes you feel welcome. If you want real Peruvian food in LA, this is the place to go.

OK this is now my favorite Peruvian place so far. The tallarines Verdes are flavorful. The steak is marinated and tastes great. The ceviche is delicious and fresh. The papa hunciana has a kick and savory.

Sergio here are a few things to note regarding your comments as follows:
1. The real issue is the fact that the prices at your restaurant El Huarique Peruvian Kitchen in Culver City are NOT aligned with the quality, service, ambiance and overall experience we received.
2. My husband and I live very well and we will gladly pay a higher price for excellent food, service and ambiance and we always provide a tip of 20% or more. Therefore, your comment about “all you can eat Peruvian restaurants” is laughable. I am not aware of an all you can eat Peruvian restaurant and we do NOT eat at “all you can eat restaurants”.
3. Essentially, our experience at El Huarique Peruvian Kitchen in Culver City was truthful and factual as noted below.

El Huarique Culver is a small hole in the wall restaurant that has HIGH prices for food and drink.
El Huarique Culver opens at 11:00 AM and we arrived at 12:45 PM for lunch but we experienced a multitude of issues with this restaurant:
#1. We asked for filtered water but the server said, “THE WATER IS NOT FILTERED”.
#2. We asked for bottled water but the server said THE RESTAURANT DOES NOT HAVE BOTTLED WATER.
#3. We were forced to order 12-ounce juices and lemonade at $7.50 each.
#4. We ordered (3) lemonades and (1) Chicha Morada but the server came back with only (2) lemonade’s because the server said, “WE RAN OUT OF LEMONADE”. So instead of a third lemonade, we ordered the Maracuya but who runs out of lemonade at lunch for goodness sake?
#5. We ordered (4) 12-ounce drinks…(2) juices and (2) lemonades for a total of $30 for a small whole in the wall in Culver City. That is insane!!!
#6. (3) of us ordered Lomo Saltado at $27.50. We love Peruvian food and have visited many Peruvian restaurants but the Lomo Saltado at El Huarique were smaller portions and there was nothing uniquely different about the Lomo Saltado at $27.50 each.
#7. My mother-in-law asked for sweet potato fries with her Lomo Saltado as a substitute instead of regular potato fries but the server said, WE ARE OUT OF SWEET POTATO FRIES. She asked if she could have extra shrimp as a substitute instead of the potato fries and he agreed but when I received the bill below, he added $8.50 for extra shrimp. I reminded the server that he NEVER told us that the extra shrimp would be an additional cost of $8.50. The server AGREED that he NEVER told us that the extra shrimp would be an additional cost but when I asked him to remove the extra shrimp from the bill, the server told me that he could NOT do that. Essentially, the server was at fault for not informing us of the additional cost for the extra shrimp but the server refused to remove the $8.50 from the bill. The servers refusal was inappropriate and tacky.
Bottomline, if El Huarique Culver is going to charge high prices for a whole in the wall restaurant then it is incumbent upon the staff to show some class in handling customers. Secondly, it was not a smart decision for the server to not remove the $8.50 for the extra shrimp because the server missed out on a 20% tip. The bill was $160.41 so 20% is $32. And finally, based on our experience as noted above, we will NEVER visit El Huarique Culver ever again.

El Huarique Peruvian Kitchen (Culver City) is a charming spot with friendly service and beautiful décor, featuring Peruvian-style artifacts and a large screen in the back showing scenic videos of the Andes.
Unfortunately, despite its appealing atmosphere, my experience fell short in several areas.
The portion sizes are quite small compared to other Peruvian restaurants nearby, and all the dishes arrived at once — appetizers and entrées together — which made it hard to enjoy the meal in stages.
We ordered the Papa a la Huancaína as an appetizer and the Lomo Saltado and Chaufa de Pollo as entrées. The Lomo Saltado was disappointing: the portion of meat was small, the fries were few, and the tomato and onion pieces were tiny. I’ve had this dish many times elsewhere, and it’s usually much heartier with larger, more flavorful portions. The Chaufa de Pollo, however, was quite good and well-prepared.
The restaurant is known for its Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, though we didn’t get a chance to try it.
Unfortunately, a few other factors hurt the overall experience. It was a hot day, and with the front door open, flies and mosquitoes gathered near the window where we were seated inside. Additionally, the strong scent of burning incense or aromatic sticks inside and near the entrance was overwhelming and made it difficult to enjoy the meal.
Overall, while the service and ambiance were pleasant, the small portions, serving style, and environmental distractions made this visit disappointing. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t plan to return.

First time visiting and we really enjoyed it! We had the pork sandwich and the beef empanadas and the fried plantains. It was all so delicious.

It’s my first time experiencing Peruvian cuisine and I ordered the fried chicken sandwich(probably not the smartest choice) but the special herb taste definitely makes it unforgettable!
